Is it worth it to buy... items in store?

Hey, one thing I always get flustered with is the items. They're very expensive and I never know if it's worth it to spend all that gold. Typically my luck in RPGs is to buy an exotic item and then find something comparable or better around the next corner for free.

So with as few spoilers as possible, I'd like to create a thread where people can ask the value in buying certain items!

I'll start

Is it worth to buy The Pikemans End? It's a 2h sword +3 with no additional magic. It costs over 30k but I haven't found a 2h sword since the vale and one of my main hitters sometimes doesn't have the firepower to takeout magical enemies.

Well AFAIR best items/weapons are found as loot. Try to find a item database on internet
and check if you can find something better.

Not all IWD item lists are accurate, but they are useful nevertheless for all the weapons that can be found in fixed places and which are not distributed as random loot in chests, for example.

If you want a 2h sword then it's definitely not a bad buy. Overall not that much but you can take a while until you find a decent 2h sword,

Wow, thanks. Hey, out of curiosity. How/when does the game generate what random loot will be available?

Is it possible/worth save scumming a dungeon to get one of these?

Yes, although you need to "save" before entering a dungeon.

Later in the game I've always found the Three White Doves mace very helpful (and OK, very, very expensive), where it's needed... I've been playing this game a long time, and I'm not aware of a loot equivalent

I wondered if the expensive mage robes you can buy is worth it. I did buy them but soon after I found something similar/better for free.
