expensive items
Do you buy the very expensive items in the shops? Say e.g. if you have a member that fights with slinger, would you buy the giant killer slinger for almost all of your gold for that extra edge in combat? Or do you just buy stuff like spells, ammo etc?

Yes, because generally speaking I try not to "waste" coin on expenable items so I'd rather buy weapon/armor that will last forever as opposed to an arrow that I can only use once.

Same here. For example i always buy a bag of holding as soon as i can, since it its so incredibly useful. Potions for the same amount of Gold? Nah, all potions i need can be found along the way.

The general rule of thumb when it comes to d&d table up version of the game and in the these games. You find the more usefull 1 use item along the way when you need to use them or class related gear such as spells , armor and etc. Along the way you find usefull magic gear but it is best to save up for the gold to spend on the items you get the most long term use out of .

By the time I finished my IWD campaign, I had a surplus of over 300k gold, which was enough to buy any weapon I really wanted.
