Database Editing
For those interested in trying some DB editing I will point you in the direction of a tool. However, I strongly urge you to make a copy of which database you intend to edit and rename it to your newly modified database.

Download SQLite2009 Pro

Now that the cat's out of the bag... I will not provide any follow-up support on use or editing. I will tell you that it does allow limited editing and addition of units.

Found a better database editor than that one for Windows 7/8 folks.

To add to these comments, I've been using SQLite Expert, a tool vaguely in line with that disucssed above. The CMANO DBs are standard normalized systems, with key-entity maps. The place to start is with DataAircraft, and cross-correlate the data you see with the data shown in the DB browser in-game, then by extrapolating from there.

Also look at the Enum Tables for stuff such as Aircraft Category, Sensor Capability, and others. Maybe I might look at putting up a brief guide on how-to at least modify an existing unit.

Feel free but keep in mind because we're still adding stuff the schema can and will change. Fair warning:)

Oh gawd.... not edited databases again. It causes more trouble than it's worth, really.

That's the fun caveat that should be added: there's no real way to persist your changes, and some things will break.

Exactly. That is why you should make your own seperate testing Database. I only really do any DB editing because I'm a tweaker. Have been ever since I got a hold of the Half-Life SDK when I was 17.

I edited database with SQLite, and made some new platforms (MiG-31 "Firefox", Airwolf supersonic helo, SSBN Red October, SSN Yamato etc...). However, edited database is not recognized in v1.08 game. Why?

See the caution posts above. Direct-DB editing is not allowed (see EULA) and not supported on the consumer version of CMANO. You can edit existing platforms and for completely new platforms you can request them from the devs on the Matrix forum.

I think DB editing is more trouble than it's worth. The harpoon fiasco, with the db editing from what I understand, was a complete disaster.

To be honest, while editing it is feasible, its not intended and not permitted as Dimitris said above. I've messed around with an older standard DB trying to see what you could do with it. It's safe to say, you shouldn't attempt to add anything. Just use something similar in CMANO and go from there. This is because 1) it doesn't work and 2) the developer is really good about keeping it stocked full of goodies at the request of the community. The other reason again, stated above.

The only use i've discovered is to modify sensors to reflect different properties such as tracking air/surface versus only air and so on.

Not having a database editor is the one thing I miss in a game like this as I like to make my own platforms to play with. It ws the main thing that kept me using Harpoon.
