Choosing Number of Aircraft for AEW Patrol

So ive been playing the Black Tiger V scenario and am trying to setup a support mission for my E-2C hawkeyes to patrol. THe thing is, I want only one aircraft on station with the other 5 hanging back ready to go. But no matter what I do (Mostly specifying that Flight Size = Single Aircraft) it will always launch 2 E-2 Hawkeyes. Eithier as a single flight or as two seperate flights.

Limit the number of aircraft to 3 and ensure the 1/3 option is checked. It's not ideal, but the endurance of those things should allow one to always be up (I think). If not, just rotate them out of the mission and bring a "fresh" one in.

Otherwise, you can create 2 support missions with the same ref points. Place 3 Hawkeyes in one, and 2 Hawkeyes in the other, and set the activation time of the 2nd mission for x hours in the future (where x is Hawkeye endurance multiplied by 3 planes).

Or you can wait for someone smarter than me to give a better answer. :)

Thanks spike, no it isnt ideal, but its alot better than having two of my AEW up when only one is needed. Im just really wondering if I am misunderstanding the mission mechanics in some way.

Just turn off 1/3rd rule and set the number of aircraft on station to 1.
