Escort
Hi, i looked on google about how work the escort but i didn't find something i could use, i have few questions about the escort.

1°) How do i assign the right aircraft to the escort of a strike mission ? Is it automatic ? I add Electronic Warfare Falcon and Anti Air Hornet to an Land Strike mission but they say "aircraft will not be able to take off due to size restriction" even if the flight size in the escort tab is right, one plane for the EW and i add one Falcon, so it should work.

2°) How can i escort patrol or support mission ? I want to escort my radar Boeing, refuel plane,my fleet(just the airplane flying around my fleet and following it, shooting every plane coming close to them)... But the escort tab is not available.

3°) What is the better mission for an air superiority and how to design it ? I want my plane shooting every plane in and close out of the mission zone. Better a support mission ? An Air Intercept ? Patrol ? SEAD ?

It's easy to assign escorts. Simply select the aircraft you want as escorts in the mission editor (they have to be already assigned to the mission) and below that part of the window should be a button that says something like: "Designate selected as escorts"

and there you go!

I dont think you can assign aircraft to Patrol or support, but It is a feature I would like to see added. The devs know of it.

For support mission escorts I place an AAW mission in a rectangle or triangle over the support mission route. I then adda prosecution zone at the maximum distance I want them to engage at. Then add my escort aircraft, usually two air supriority fighters/multirole.

For air superiority an AAW mission works wonders. However by the sounds of how you worded it you may be attempting air superiority over hostile land or sea. To achieve that you may need to set up multiple missions. SEAD will help with any air defences. Land/naval strikes are good for taking out pre-planned targets that you know will be large threats. Don't forget to add in support missions - you can't have air superiority if all your aircraft are back at base refuelling...

Thank you for your answer !

I have a little more question, why the main group of plane for an airstrike mission don't wait the escort ? I must every time set up the speed for each group of aircraft.

Oh it's just a feeling or the AI is a bit... silly , for example i send 2 anti air F18 on a air tanker and the ennemie don't withdraw it, and after it's destroyed, they send one more at the same place (of course my F18 are still there, less than 5 seconds after i destroyed the first tanker), or they send planes in my anti air range of my fleet, not ASuW plane no no , ASW plane with no surface weapon. When i fire the missile, the AI still don't withdraw his plane, i witness lot of case like those, is it a bug or ? I don't say the game is bad, i have a lot of fun to imagine the war scene when i send several hapoons on a fleet,etc... and lot of fun on the game in general, but the AI...oh my god.

Yeah the AI won't adapt like that unfortunately. if you have to you can go in and edit that ai mission yourself, but other than that there is nothing you can do.

This is actually a setting, you need to set up the mission doctrine and tell them to form up after takeoff

The mission that it happened in is a low experience one, mostly to get you familiar with the game. You can look at the steam workshop for the "community pack" of scenarios, and the ones there are much, MUCH more difficult.

I thought it was LUA programming for changing the AI, if it is, it will be a bit hard for me.

Oh, ok Mousie, indeed, i had this situation in Canary's Cage (Very fun for a first scenario) and in an other ( with Argentina and the Falkland, a very easy mission).
Thank you , i didn't saw that option.

I still have few questions, if i destroy the fuel tanks of an airport, the airplane are still able to take off ? Or the no fuel is not simulated ? Or maybe the fuel come from another place. One more question about the airport, what is the best structure to target for my bomber ? I always target the runway, but maybe it's not the better thing i can do, it take several bomb to destroy the big one, and that's when there is only one, lot more bomber are needed for 2-3 runway.

Try kill the runway access points / parking / hangar areas. No access points means they can't enter/leave the runway and no place to park means they can't land. The latter isn't a good idea if they have hardened shelters etc.

when takeing out a airfield, i found the best way to put it out of action is not to take out the runway, bit so kill off the enemy planes with aggreassave counter air patrols and droping clusterbombs on parking spots to kill landed aircraft.

What on earth has that to do with an escort?!

If you read the entirety of this almost 2 year old thread that you necro'd, you would see that the last few posts preceding yours discussed taking out airbases based on OP's follow up post.
