IR vs IIR
what is the practical difference with these 2 sensor types, i know IIR came later, so is it just a new name for a more modern(and thus more reiable) sensor, or does it have different effects then just affecting the POH

Well, IIR means imaging infra red so you have a termal camera that is taking pictures of enemy planes against the environment and then you have electronics that does the image processing and remove the effect of background, flares and other jammers, sun glares, etc

IIR is more accurate and less vulnerable to jamming
