are there any solutions to the split screen crash?
Split screen has a bad crash. A quick google search shows this has been a problem for many people since the original GFWL version of dirt 3, and I didn't see any answers! I went to show my friend dirt 3 yesterday, It unfortunately crashed over and over again, and only in split screen mode. Has there been a solution, or should I just assume split screen is broken?

I have the exact same issue with the complete edition on steam and it's really unplayable. Strangely i dont have the issue with the GFWL version (but i don't have the dlc there ...). I'd really like to know how to fix it too. Help pls !

The thought that I need to install the GFWL version to see if the issue exists there makes me want to puke.

My friend was impressed with my computer until it crashed over and over. Now he brags about his PayStation5 :-|

I've got the same issue but I figure it out! In my case I needed to turn off vibration becouse game crashed every time when I hit the second player car. Enjoy!

If game still crashes, you can try running game in DX9 mode:
1. Go to your DiRT3 save game folder and find file "hardware_settings_config.xml"
2. Open that file with notepad and search [directx forcedx9="false"]
3. Change "false" to "true" then save, play and give your enemies what they deserve :D

Same problem here. Works for a minute and then crashes. Turning off vibration or forcing DirectX 9 didn't help. What helped was playing in small windowed mode and driving slowly. Any solutions?

Vibration fix didn't work for me either. It really sucks too because my console gamer friends still use it to talk ♥♥♥♥ about the master race. My $2000 gaming rig sucks because it doesn't have any working split screen games. worst part is, they are right! I have a 120" projection screen and a 1080p projector. I should be able to split screen some games with my friends on it....

@Michael same thing, 120" projection screen :) Dirt 3 split-screen seems so cool for a minute..until it crashes! I think I'll buy Origin version just to see if it will work.
Try Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light it's fun! Soon Tekken 7 coming out on Steam!

DirectX fix is not working for me BUT I found a solution! This problem only happens in STEAM version!!! Get yourself a DVD version(I'm not suggeting ISO from gray sources...but you paid for original version already ). It's so cool to have one player on steering wheel and the other on a gamepad! Most important It must NON-STEAM version but GFLW

Not proud of it, but I have to say it... First I tried the game from the "dark side". It was crashing, but i liked it, so I have decided to buy it. What a big dissapointment, when game was still crashing.
At least I can play now, so do not surrender.

Also, i was changing the vibration settings on controller (wireless xbox one), so try it too.
