playing on Corsair Vengence 2100
i74790K / 32GB DDR3 / Asus Z97 Deluxe / 2 GTX970 4GB / Win7x64
OpenAL is installed
EDIT:-
Line 7 in file hardware_settings_config
Located @
C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\my games\DiRT3\hardwaresettings\
reads
<audio mixing="software" />
after changing this to
<audio mixing="rapture3D" />
the game sets it back to software on the very next launch, so I repeated and write protected the file to stop the game adjusting settings while this did work it has not stoped the random cracks n pops in the audio.
in conclusion its not an OpenAL audio issue this is something that has been introduced into the game whilst they removed GFWL.
EDIT 2 :-
Also does the same with Asus Xonar and onboard Realtek so its not just my USB Corsair Vengence with the issue.
First I installed DIRT 3 CE and the sound was ok but my Racing Wheel T300RS steere to the right. I uninstall DIRT 3 CE and I installed DIRT 3. DIRT 3 do not want to start. Then I installed DIRT 2 same problem. I uninstalled GFW and reinstalled it and I could start DIRT 2 and DIRT 3, but I have no sound at all.
My sound card : XONAR PHOEBUS
Are you using the Corsair software with your Vengeance headset? I sometimes get the same annoying clicks in any game with my 2100. Sometimes restarting the software helps, other times I've got to restart the PC. And yes, it affects other devices too (like my stereo that's connected via onboard). Uninstalled the Corsair software, now running the Razer surround software (as recommended on Corsair forums by a few people) and the problem happens much less (does still happen though)... They sound pretty good when the software doesn't screw it up :(
