Everywhere I go, people say there is no nudity in this game.... so why does steam want me to verify my age? And why did clicking the forums ALSO warn me that the content may not be appropriate for all ages?

Cause Steam wants to cover thier ass, in case some user decides to post some porn or something, since this is the Steam community after all. Also, because they are in America.
