How to use shop items?

Probably really dumb but how do i use the items i buy from shop?
I bought a court order, as it said it negates the family payments at the end of the day. It's on my table but i'm not sure if it's something i have to activate as i'm still having to pay the family home money each day

You can click the 'x' every time and they won't accumulate. It took me a while to figure that out. You're probably like me, expecting to be able to just ignore the house and click on the airport like you can ignore the others.

They are automatically activated as soon as they are on your table.
