yes its not 100% realistic.
Ammunition is internally split up in units.
A torpedo is 60 Units, grenades 10 units and bullets are 2 units.
One box consists of 120 Units.
But those are just visuals.
A crew member will always go to the nearest armory to get ammo and if there is that kind of ammo on the ship he will get it.
The whole thing was designed to be less complex. For the player as well as for us programmers.
If you want to know how much ammo is on the ship you can look into NODE -> Overview -> Weapons
