Knocking noises from engine bay
Part not discovered
Timing Belt (R4 SOHC) checked/fixed

I've checked most of the engine bay (except for the engine block)

bad connecting rod, cranshaft, crankshaft caps would makes a knocking noise or bearing slap noise. so drain the oil pull the pan and inspect the crankshaft area..

Check steering rack (it's below the engine which explains the noise coming from the engine bay ;) )

might want to check the battery. i think i once had this and it was the battery. remember it says engine bay that means everything under the hood. doesn't mean it's only engine parts.

Fuel pump was removed from this kind of job.

it could be a rubber bushing in the engine bay...
if not it might be exhaust manifold
if its STILL not it
search for rusty stuff (or black dirty stuff)
like the radiator fan

or if you give up you can always put all the peices together and quit, or you can take all the pieces out and then you will find the part...
