Left header cap (sliver/red in color above where the pistons would be).
You may want to implement that in the game, say a yellow cap on a black header for an example.
Or if you are methodical and don't want to just recolor it, add some contrast text which is usually "Check manual for bla bla bla" thats on some caps.
On literally every vehicle I've ever owned in my entire life, the valve cover was always black, and the oil fill cap was always black. In the real world, you would indeed need to be clinically blind not to see them. I did have trouble locating one in game on one of the engines though. I don't remember which one, but eventually found it. It was using Predator camo.
so far I have only seen 2 or 3 cars represent old Amercain cars from 69 to 72, so they are going to be the old V-8's. If your not sure on this, look up Muscle cars out of the 69 to 72's.
old V-8's can be found on youtube, as well as dyno faluers on these engins..
These engines will have carbs, push rods, and other cool, but old parts.
Oil caps are directly on the rocker arm cover, they had always been there on the real engine.
The game version of the old V-8 is really a good job of representation, I reconize the design so if you want some more infomation out of personal knowledge..
to Look up for pics, youtube, infomation, maybe even parts for "just to see for your self" here are the common engines to look up...
Chevy V-8: 265, 283, 307, 302, 327, 305, 350, 400
Ford windsor V-8: 221, 255, 260, 289, 302, 351
Ford Cleveland V-8: 351, 400,
Chrysler V-8: 290, 318, 360, 401
The place of the filler cap would differ depending upon manufacture or model. Sometimes it would be found at the rear of the valve cover. Other times the front and sometimes in the center of the cover. The reason for this variation can simiply be the year differnece or the option istalled under the hood.
Durring the muscle car era of the 60s and early 70s manufactures installed aluminum/chrome valve covers often with matching oil filler caps. What the game does is a good representation of what those cars had in real life.
In the mid 2000s yellow started to become the standard color for the oil filler cap. As in the past this does not apply to all manufatures or across all models offered by a manufature.
But if you don't know nothing about an engine different parts can be hard to find.
I haven't heard them called head covers before. I might have heard them called a rocker box on top gear or something once.
