There is no traction in this car.. Its hard to launch it well, I know it can go faster. I also have a 1000hp car that does 10.3 and a 700 hp car that does 10.9.

That is where slicks is very important.

Sub 10 second car. I had to put drag ("cheater") tires on it to tame it. Hits over 350 kph before running out of track:

Without slicks (the first picture), I had to start in 3rd to tame it. This resulted in about 12.5 second quarter mile at over 340 kph.

not the fastest car out there but it's my fastest
645HP Salem Spectre Fastback
i never actully tryd out tire, only rims, i quess it has the effect of changing traction, might be easyer to test out the track then my tempest magnum is just burning wild even on 3th gear and its not heavy engine power as few of yours say. so must be why :)

Yeah. Slicks are stickiest, with a gripMod=1.7

If you really want it to stick, mod the txt file for the car and change the transmission to 4x4 (transmissionType=4x4). It's unrealistic (without some additional slippage/power loss calculations), but quicker than messing with finalDriveRatio and gears. It will bee nice when they introduce more tuning options without editing.

My fastest so far is with the GTR. I have gotten into the high 9's(yes I know, I haven't fixed everything 100% on that one yet). I just can't get the Cobra to hook up enough to get below 10 seconds.

I use the slick tires on all my higher HP cars, and usually launch in 2nd gear. This works well for the GTR, Panther, and M8. The Cobra still has issues when doing this though. Lots of wheel spin, and the rear end likes to kick out.

I have not specifically gone for max power when assembling cars, it's just not my thing. But on this one car (Tempest Magnum) I did throw in performance headers, a supercharger and slicks. 792 hp if I recall, did 1/4 mile in a hair over 11s. Sorry, no pic (already sold it). I didn't launch it in 2nd gear, but I did pay attention to shifting at the max hp point rather than max rpm.

eXclusiVee, tires make a huge difference! My example here may not be quite as fast as some other posters but considering the hp difference... In this case the tires really allowed me to get the most out of the engine.
