Engine Head Covers on the V8 Engines

I was rebuilding a V8 Engine, and saw that there are red and black Engine Head Covers. I would like to install the black covers instead of the red, but I can't seem to install the black ones. It keeps bringing the red "regular" ones up instead.

Is there a special trick to install the black ones instead, or can you only put the black ones on special vehicles?

I'm trying to install them on the DeLorean Sci-Fi, if that helps.

Look at the original heads that you took off. Heads are all different. For example if you the ones you took off are enginge head V8 OHV the only head you can put back on that car are the V8 OHV head. You cant put a engine head V8 on it if the ones on it were the V8 OHV heads.

Keeping that in mind, I'm not trying to put the OHV on the V8.

They are literally Engine Head Cover A, versus Engine Head Cover A Black. I'm simply asking if they are compatible, and if they are, how do you instal the Black versus the Regular.

Ok thats what i was unsure about. I wasnt sure what type of covers you took off vs what you were trying to put back on. I have never tried replacing red with black or vice versa. I do own a delorean scyfi tho. So, i will go in right now and check and see what it does for me. Its very possible you can only replace with same color.

Did you do a engine swap? Or do you still have the original engine in it? I did an engine swap on mine, so my covers are red. But I think because they say Engine head cover A BLACK, you cant put them on unless the ones on it are black and vice versa with red.

I was hoping the black ones were optional like wheels. Oh well. Thanks for your help.

I wonder something. I see alot of people in the modding section editing the text files in the game folder. I wonder if you can go in and edit the part names and remove the RED and BLACK. That might make it so they are interchangeable.

If you look for an "Engine head cover A (V8)", there will be two. I think the $200 will be the red version and the $400 will be black. Without modding I don't know a way to switch out the standard red for the black. I was trying to make an all black sleeper Salem Spectre SR with black head covers, but can't do that yet.
