There's a couple of known bugs related to these two Encounters. Off the top of my head I do know that Heinous Package has a fix slated for the next update.
Would you mind sending us a copy of your save file(s)? We'd like to take a look, hopefully determine the exact failure point for Awkward Courtship and hopefully provide a Workaround as a result.

Debug Solution
If you don't mind using Debug Commands you can use these to force your way through a Quest. The Debug Console must be enabled before doing so.
Enable the console on Release builds:
Press Windows + R
Paste: \Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\My Games\We Happy Few\Config\WindowsNoEditor
Press Enter
Open Input.ini
Add the following lines to the top of the Input.ini file and Save it:
[/script/glimpsegame.glimpseconsole]
bConsoleEnabled=True
If you are on a non En-US Keyboard, add these lines as well:
[/script/engine.inputsettings]
ConsoleKey=F1
ConsoleKeys=F1
This will Rebind the Console to the F1 key instead of ` (Tilde)
Once the Debug Console is enabled, you can then load the affected Save File and use Two commands to complete the Encounter
completeobjective - This will cycle through the Quests' available Objectives. Keep in mind that if you miss the objective by accident, you can simply loop back to the one you want.
completequest - This completes the entire Quest, however does not affect the individual objectives, so it's important to complete the objectives before using this command if you want to keep your Quest Log clean.
You should be able to do this to move past the Quests, however it would still be quite useful for us to have a Save File where Awkward Courtship is still blocked. :)

Unfortunately one of the problems I had was the saves. I actually didn't use any, I was quite far along in the game when I remembered that you had that capability. So I played up to that point basically, without any saved files. I can double check, but unfortunately that contributes to my dilemma with the bugs.
An Awkward Courtship has a new up that was introduced in the 1.6 patch. The Cleaver you're intended to pick up at the end of the encounter spawns right away. That means that if you grab it and then use its durability up or get rid of it, then the Encounter will not complete until that particular Cleaver.
You can give it to yourself using the following debug command:
give Cleaver_Mushroomlog - This will give you the appropriate Quest Item, as well as advancing the quest for you.

As for the Heinous Package, there was a bug that would cause the package itself to disappear if you decided to save and then load your game. We introduced a fail-safe for this by respawning the Heinous Package inside the Trash Cart that it originally spawns in.
