how come a We Happy Few 2 didn't come out?

I'm a We Happy Few gamer on xbox one and there could be a new We Happy Few release...... I really loved the story, it's one of the lines that can happen in life..... but in summary, it would be cool if they release a We Happy Few 2....

The game bombed, the devs failed to deliver a good product and what they delivered was a terrible survival open world game at the time were those games were dime a dozen.

The fact that it's not even part of the Gearbox Publishing sale that is going on right now should tell you enough, it's a dead IP at this point.

but the game was awesome and yes it should have we happy few 2..... nowadays I think it would work, but my experience on xbox one in this game was top

As far as I know they never intended to make a sequel for We happy few, but they are working on a different project which was at least partly inspired by their work with We happy few. Regarding their new project there is no concrete information about what their new game will be like, except that it will be a story rich narrative in third-person, with similar elements to We Happy Few. The studio also said that this time they will avoid early release access. Rumors say it will be a dark-fantasy, action-adventure.

Ideas of the game (totalitarian society were you are forced to wear a mask and take a medication) would be perceived very mixed due to nowadays politics

Microsoft had some sort of investment in the game, which is weird, considering that the company has such strong pro-vax ties with the very people who pushed the hysteria and police/doctor state. They definitely would have been on the evil doctors and evil bobby's side of things in the game. Maybe their contracts with MS made the developers have to stop working on it, or funding would have been withheld or something.

Even if the developers had been completely independent though, I figure that they'd have faced a bit of opposition and cancel culture, if they'd have continued into 2020.

The developers got scammed a few hundred times by folks saying they wanted to make a movie and stuff like that. Basically everybody reached out for their money and it made it hard for them to get ahead

They didn't intend to make a sequel considering they end off the story with the final DLC. South by Midnight is their next game and it was just announced a few weeks ago at the Microsoft Gameshow.

Oh, I remember this! Found out through some video that I can't remember the link to that this was a trend during the mid-to-late 2010s where small and large film production companies would buy the film rights to indie games. It's why if you look up a popular indie game from the time you find out that they're apparently getting a movie, but nothing ever comes out. That's because the idea is that once the indie game goes mainstream the company will either make the money themselves or sell the film rights to a bigger studio for a profit. Not sure if that happened to WHF, but that's what happened to some other games.

but it would be a reference in the reality of life with some touches that it may not have yet..... it's a little deep, but ok
