Act 3 and conforming (potential spoiler)
I have started Act 3, and am at the point in which I am to go into town, but after hours of looting any containers in and out of town, knowing I need to look for wardrobes, etc, and have found a total of 2 raincoat pieces. I suspect that this being act 3 they lowered the loot rate, making many containers empty even. That and juggling his diabetes is making this act a chore. Am I missing something, or is RNG just screwing me?

EDIT: And of course I find all the shredded raincoat I need in some random cabinet almost immediatly after posting this. 4 hours scouring for raincoats, get 2 of the 5 pieces, then get 3 at the same time, after giving up on normal scavanging and going on a murder spree to continue the story.

I think there is a part where you get a boiler suit. You can wear that if you don’t have anything else to wear.

I hadn't been given a boiler suit (after doing all side missions I could find), nor could I gotten the resources to make one, as I needed the shredded raincoats. In the end, I found a bunch of the shredded raincoats after giving up. Supposedly, the shady vendor could be a way to get the boiler suit, but I never saw any sign of him.

As Ollie, you can find a free, already-crafted boiler suit in Victoria's yard. There's a wooden shed, and there's a boiler suit inside. If you don't have one by the time you first get to the Village and can't find one to buy, do that quest first, or at least get into her yard long enough to grab the boiler suit.

Act 3 was by far my least favorite act in the game. The story itself was fine and I liked how it ended. But the gameplay was atrocious. Aside from having almost no insulin to manage Ollie's diabetes early on, I also caught the plague and spent about two hours of game time trying to find the medicine for it (since Ollie can't do chemistry). With very few medkits I wound up limping around with 40% health or less and half stamina all the freaking time. Since Ollie can't stealth for crap and would aggro people just by being near them, I couldn't outrun them like with Arthur and Sally, and would have to fight with no stamina after a couple of blocks and almost no health. Infiltrating that military camp for one main quest was a nightmare. Then there is one part where you cross a bridge to get into the one city after taking a mandatory joy pill which makes Ollie throw up, and are forced into a fight with a civilian and a bobby with Ollie barfing so you can't block. What fun. Why did they feel the need to force a combat situation there? Finally got better when I got the boiler suit and a padded suit so I could stock up on honey and insulin, but exploring anywhere was just tedious (especially with two npc types who can spot you if you aren't on joy) and I finally just resorted to mass slaughter when I got hold of a super weapon, just so I could move about in relative peace.

They really need to work on making this act more playable and fun.

I liked playing Ollie, but Margaret was incredibly annoying. No player wants to have a nagging, guilt-tripping voice throughout the game, especially with it going back and forth from one side to the other like a pesky mosquito flying around your face. Obviously, they are pulling some sort of you-know-who lookalike thing based on how they drew her face, but they must not realize that that's just annoying to the player, VERY over-done (esp since in this alternate future, that group never got picked on - the inventor of Joy is even a member of that group - Dr. Gross), and so Margaret takes away from the fun of the game.

Other than that, though, Ollie is pretty much my favorite character. At first, the glucose is a problem, but some ways to get around that are...

Get your 'eating rotten food' skill early on, since rotten potatoes, rotten apples, and moldy bread can make his blood sugar go up, with only a few of them needed to replace an entire shot.

Also, you can often get honey before having a padded suit if the bee tree is near some people. Just bother the bees long enough to get them angry, and immediately run closely past a few people (or groups of people) in a row. The bees usually at some point stick to those people, and they leave you and the tree alone long enough to harvest the honey.

Also, if you go around the outside of the garden district and collect plants early on (better if you also have your skill to double the amounts you get from each plant), then while you are collecting the red and yellow ones for use in healing balms later on, you should also collect the blue currants when you find them. Approx 40 blue currants takes Ollie's blood sugar from too low to full.

What you described sounds like fun to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's supposed to be a little challenging.
Aku Apr 17, 2019 @ 5:52pm
It's not about challenge, it's about gameplay. You want to make Ollie antisocial and stick out like a sore thumb until he can disguise himself a bit, that's fine. But then don't put him in the middle of town where he has to strut down the street with a big sign on his back. In Vampire Bloodlines you could play as a nosferatu who would get attacked on sight, but the maps included sewer systems so he could travel around to where he needed to get to without being spotted. It would have been nice if Ollie had some options to get places and avoid the crowds as opposed to running about with people chasing him all the time and diving into trash cans to hide. But it is what it is, I rejoiced when I found that boiler suit by accident.

You can sneak around with ollie just fine. there is almost always an alternative route (with a few exceptions for scripted events, the obvious pathed parts, and first part of all characters).
There is no need to go trough towns all the time, you can walk on the outside. Even at night.
Only slight problem was the blood sugar, but is easily enough manageable.

There are no alternative routes into town, other than into town, and going around the outside only helps if there is an inlet that puts you closer to your goal.

Agreed on the insulin, immediatly punishing you for not having the padded suit, though there are work arounds. I had the same problem with the plague, and lucked out finding a cure syringe, afterward finding there is a bit of an easier recipe that Ollie can make that cures plague as well.

If I ever start streaming (need to beat my procrastination for that) this will definitely be a game I will want to stream, maybe survival, but never as Ollie.
