First Aid Kit/Medicated Balm/Treehouse Quest

I'm picking the game up again after not playing it for 1-2 years. My character just picked up the Treehouse quest. No issues getting the Peach doll and returning it to him, but now I have to find or craft a First Aid Kit. In my inventory, I've got the recipe for a First Aid Kit, which requires Medicated Balm. Can't find it ANYWHERE (have checked at least 7 houses), and can't craft it because I don't have the recipe yet.

What am I missing? Where is the recipe for Medicated Balm?? I've got plenty of the ingredients.

You might have to wait until you either get the recipe, or until you find/buy some medicated balm or a first aid kit. Have you checked all the inhabited garden district houses for workbenches (ground floor) and chemistry tables (3rd floor)? There's a lot of extra recipes you can get from those.

When robbing the village area houses, you can often find medicated balm on small tables or in the bathrooms. The chemist or maybe some of the vending machines might sell them, too.

The mix of recipes you get is random for each playthrough. One time as Arthur, I didn't get any padded suit recipe, so I couldn't do the bee quests.

Medicated balm can be found inside the "happy" villages inside cabinets in bathrooms as far as I remember, if you aim at an easier research - like Opal said it also depends on the spawning rate of items and gameplay.
Don't remember if you need a recipe for it (haven't played the main game in like 3 years), but I know you need 2 gilead petals and 2 rowan berries to craft one.

Arthur starts out with only the ordinary healing balm recipe, so he needs to find the recipe, but I think both Sally and Ollie start out already having the medicated one.

Wait, what? I thought examining the sign in hive mind gives recipe automatically?

If so, I didn't know about it until now. I must have just not gone close enough to the sign that time I didn't get the recipe.

Thanks everyone, I found that I couldn't get it in the "Happy" area I was in, and only when I progressed the main story a bit further crossing one of the bridges to another "Happy" area, found one in a medicine cabinet and then suddenly the recipe was available. That must be a bug since most other recipes you find are actual pages you have to pick up.
