However i'm missing the 9280 may 2015 build and the june 2015 10571 build. and the march 2016 17956 build. Those versions are permanently lost unless someone uploads them somewhere.
The only old pre-alpha version easily obtainable is the 22249 april 2016 pax build mainly because someone put it on the Internet Archive community data section years back. You can find it through a google search somewhat easily.
I'm kinda hoping someone releases those builds again. My assumption is that due to gearbox publishing the devs may not be allowed to release the old builds back to the public as they where originally considering.
This is the link https://archive.org/details/We.Happy.Few.PreAlpha.Build.22249
It is an archive posted from 2016.
However i do know someone is recently trying to make a new repository for the old pre-alpha's I was considering doing it myself at some point
. happy gaming!
Unfortunately that list only includes some of the Early Access alpha builds. It does not feature any of the pre-alpha builds though.
Major differences. WHF was a very different game back then mostly focusing as a permadeath survival horror roguelike experience. You're only objective was to escape wellington wells. Nothing less or more.
The game somewhat had a slightly "darker" aesthetic when it came to the designs of certain NPCs like the bobbies and the world itself a little. They are worth playing for anyone who is interested i would say. And at the time a bit more of a "horror" feeling in some ways.
The first Pre-Alpha build publicly released was the May 2015 build from the kickstarter. The last pre alpha was the Pax 2016 version in April 2016 3 months before early access.
However it's impossible to play any of those builds unless you've saved them. Luckly i have saved ones i could manage to get years back and i have made a archive for them. In fact the only builds im missing are the ones prior to the August 2015 gamescom version.
But i do know for a fact that the "manifest" codes for these versions are still on steam's servers however they are not publicly viewable.

Would be fun trying some of them again.
Ah yes i believe that's the repo i created a few years ago. it contained some builds i stored long time ago.
