Where is the cloth and sewing kit?

There really aren't a ton of houses to loot, and i am having a ton of trouble finding these items. Where the hell are they? I need to make the suit to cross the bridge.

ive found sevral sewing kits.. mostly they seem to be in occupied houses on the second floor.. usually seem to be sitting on top of a crate.

at least thats the main place ive found them.

Explore until you find the loony in the treehouse. Force open a few payphones or craft a few Medicated Balm and sell it to him. He usually sells Sewing Kits. Can't remember if he also sells Cloth.Scraps.

This. In my latest playthrough every other postbox has them. Who is putting them there though?

Oddly I found that cloth scraps are generated way less than canvas scraps, despite being more needed in crafting. The mystery house however has a lot of them.

Folks, it's a procedurally generated game. Hints on your game will NOT apply to anyone else's. Sometimes there's a dearth of nexamide, next one sewing kits, etc. I've played this game a LOT. I know whereof I speak.

My previous run had a lack of Mechanical Parts and Sewing Kits. This time around, I have enough to make 4 of every suit, and half a dozen lockpicks - but I haven't even gone past a Downer Detector.
I had noticed that the sewing kits tend to appear on furniture like Dressers, but I'm not sure if that's coincidence.

^ Pretty much this, yep.

I find that postboxes/garbage cans, etc tend to refill overnight (either that or I'm terribly lost! :-p ), so keep checking containers as you pass them if they don't show as Empty.
