Sally and lockpicks
My god, just started act 2 and i am ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tired already. I loved act 1 , but in act 2 i have been going back and forth looking for a lockpick or materials to do it, wtf, with arthur i had so many i could choke the whole town with them, and suddenly when i need a mandatory lockpick with sally to open a door it seems like they have dissapeared from the world, one of the most basic materials suddenly becomes rare and makes you waste 2 hours to complete a quest that could be done in 5 seconds? who the hell though that was a good idea?

I second that. I just started playing as Sally, and I came very close to getting stuck right away. It took me ages to find fresh water to craft the baby milk for Gwen, so my inventory filled up with "totems of parental neglect". It was nearly full when I finally found a source.

In Sally's house, she has a water filtration device to filter the joy out of the water. Hope that helps you out a bit. Also I know this is a late reply but thought it was worth noting.

Seriously? I've completed the game by now, but I never found that.

Later I also figured out that I could have crafted a water filter. Didn't occur to me when I needed it.

I know that I'm several months late but I just recently purchased the game :steammocking:

Anyway, I loved Arthur's story and I just finished it. Started Sally's story and I was really excited about it but at this point I'm completely fed up.
Arthur was a walk in the park for the most part while Sally's playthrough is super challenging, like nearly to the point of making you give up.

I have to grab the old chemical set in Sally's old house and for the love of me I can't get pass the plague npcs. I don't have knockout juice nor materials to make it. I have 1 canteen, I don't have any weapons that I can actually use and it's getting really frustrating trying to move forward!

To me it seems that they got a bit carried away when making this act, seems so unbalanced compared to Arthurs.

I just started Sally and I'm ready to uninstall. On the first mission a robbery in broad daylight with no combat ability no knockout syringes and no lockpicks and a baby timer. Ffs are they kidding? its just annoying.

I bought this game early release had some fun with it and forgot about it. I just went back to it now that it was complete and I honestly thought it was a bug that I couldn't find any lockpicks or bobby pins. After reloading a save over and over I figured out that you can steal both records from the Jack fans without a lockpick (you can jump on the book shelf to get upstairs instead of the locked door) but I feel like this character as a whole is just a huge difficulty curve. The only way I have been able to find either a lockpick or bobby pins is by looting bodies of downed enemy's. Finding a way to block off multiple opponents so you can one on one and get the block timing down. Once you get the baby fed you have a good amount of time to run around and gather plants to make healing items, then it's just farming some lockpicks by picking your battle spots (typically the abandoned houses so you can also loot them since the auto baby feeder is super expensive)
As Arthur, you might have got the multitool in a quest, I think from Reg or Lionel. That saves you from ever needing to use lockpicks, it acts as a never-breaking lockpick. The animation still shows him using the old bobby pin one (though those actually look like paperclips, what do I know?), but you'll notice your stock of lockpicks never goes down.

Sally doesn't get that tool. Ollie starts off with it. So that might be why you're short of picks as Sally, you got into the habit with Arthur of picking every lock you see, where Sally has to be more discriminating. Most of the lockers and desks contain nothing useful, if at all.
I mean, you can pick simple locks like the ones in this game with two large paperclips.

Sally often has horrible luck in finding the bobby pins. They set the odds for her finding them really low. One extra way to find them, is save any scotch for bribing bobbies. They usually drop something when they start stumbling away. Sometimes it's bobby pins, and other times it's apples, keycards, other things, or nothing. Killing them or knocking them out also gives you the possibility that they'll have some bobby pins on their bodies.

In the worst case scenario, if it's so annoying that it's game breaking, you can always use the updated cheat codes to just add some to her inventory. https://www.gamepretty.com/we-happy-few-console-commands-2020/

Further that what other people said, best bobby pins sources as Sally: Bobbies (guaranteed) farm them outside a hatch at night, wastrels houses (low volume, but they're there) and in trash cans in cities.
