[SPOILER] Plague Wastrels being present during the day

Greetings,
I recently finished the game as Ollie and there was this curious fact that is now leading me to write this discussion: I know plague Wastrels hate the light, as seen when you use the flashlight upon them in the Garden District, but in the Parade District you can also find them roaming during the day.
So, I wonder if their presence during the day in the Parade District is intentional or not.

They die really quick out there, so maybe it's intentional. If you stand back and watch them fight with people, they suddenly croak a minute or so later, even if two of them are fighting with each other - they both die at the same time. So maybe it kills them like vampires if they're in it too long.

They react like that even during the night.

They're supposed to disappear during the day, but who knows!

I didn't know that they die off that quickly at night. I usually run away from them and collect Night Blooming Nonsuch's.

It depends. I saw few of them dying during the night few times.
