I just found it a lot easier to beat the crap out of him and walk through.
Well, I don’t want to spoil it for you.
But yes, him and Sally used to have a relationship, but were never married. Unfortunately one of them still hasn’t gotten over it.
Apologies for any issues you may have with the game. If the Red Bobby won't let you past the gate, then Saving and Reloading the game has been known to fix this particular issue. Feel free to reply here if this Workaround does not work for you.
Sincerely,

Amusing.
What amuses me even more is that an actual QA department at Compulsion Games.
There's one way to guarantee entry:
The Red Bobby can be bypassed entirely by entering the Side Rooms (4 Rooms on either side of the Main Staircase). You can enter these rooms via the Windows outside or using the Doors on either side of the Reception Area. In these side rooms, there is a Ventilation Shaft that will lead you upstairs, while avoiding the Red Bobby.
Sincerely,

This did end up working, but it does raise another question: Why is there no load option from the in game menu? It's a bit tedious and unnecesary to have to load to the main menu, then pick and save and load from there.
I just did this, and it DID work for me. Thank you. Other than the hive mind known quest bug (can't interact with honey at all), this is the only real quest problem I have noticed so far.
And it's a pretty bloody nifty grand game old chap, let me tell you.
Kind of makes me mourn my english culture, which seems to be slowly being eroded by political correctness, multi-culturalism and government interference.
Feels nice I can get even a slight glimpse of lovely english culture from games like this and everybody's gone to the rapture.
