Potluck house VIP area
Has anyone figured out how to convince the people in the potluck house (that you can give food to) to give you access to their VIP area with the golden record? I fed them roughly once a day for about 6 days so far, trying a couple of different foods (apple, bread, carrots, stew), but nothing super good (like pie) yet. They don't seem to react in any way.

I'm not sure there's any other way except to fight, or at least grab it quickly and run fast. I never thought to try fancier food though. That might be a peaceful way to get up there. You'd still have to steal the record when they're not looking though, or you'll have a fight anyways.

This one's a side quest that you can find when you go to the Village as Arthur. At one of the shops, you're asked to go into Lud's Holm (the second set of Garden district islands which are plague-ridden) to steal three golden records. You can't get to Lud's Holm though, until you go there for the Faraday quest. But, once you do get there, you can also do the Golden Records quest too.

Yeah I remember going for the records but never peacefully. I had to run in and wait for an opportunity and then grab and RUN!

Oh wait, is this the place that is sort of a restaurant? they have some tables and you are to contribute food? I see, and there is a golden record upstairs in a chest.

Yeah, it's kind of like a restaurant in the sense that a bunch of people are there for a meal, although it's in a regular Garden District home.

I used to go to real life potluck parties years ago in the 80s. Every guest brings some kind of food. Sometimes everything is a surprise, and other times it's planned as to who should bring which categories of the meal, like deserts or drinks or main dishes or side dishes. Most people make something homemade to bring, but sometimes people will bring something they've bought.

When you enter the potluck golden record house, one of the people there says they're having Stone Soup. That's very similar in concept to potlucks, because everyone brings something to add to the group meal. It's from an old story called Stone Soup. Here's how Wiki describes it:

"Some travelers come to a village, carrying nothing more than an empty cooking pot. Upon their arrival, the villagers are unwilling to share any of their food stores with the hungry travelers. Then the travelers go to a stream and fill the pot with water, drop a large stone in it, and place it over a fire. One of the villagers becomes curious and asks what they are doing. The travelers answer that they are making "stone soup", which tastes wonderful and which they would be delighted to share with the villager, although it still needs a little bit of garnish, which they are missing, to improve the flavor.

"The villager, who anticipates enjoying a share of the soup, does not mind parting with a few carrots, so these are added to the soup. Another villager walks by, inquiring about the pot, and the travelers again mention their stone soup which has not yet reached its full potential. The villager hands them a little bit of seasoning. More and more villagers walk by, each adding another ingredient. Finally, the stone (being inedible) is removed from the pot, and a delicious and nourishing pot of soup is enjoyed by travelers and villagers alike. Although the travelers have thus tricked the villagers into sharing their food with them, they have successfully transformed it into a tasty and nutritious meal which they share with the donors."

That seems like a common folklore around Europe. We got a similar one in Norway, but instead of a stone it's cooked on a Nail.:whfpill:

That would be better than a stone. Nutritional iron supplements! :)

Did you guys know that you can buy an iron fish as a donation and it is used to be the start of a stew/soup for improverished villages where the iron fish provides some needed iron supplement when cooked in a broth? https://luckyironfish.com/
