Is it... one of three main protagonists? I'm early in the game, and it seems whenever I do something big, I get another coded message.

I mean.... it's not a spoiler since it's not really important to th story, but here:

It's Prudence Holmes, the woman Arthur talks about at the beginning of the game and who you find at the end. Prudent = Prudence. Mr Kite's instructions are also a part of the achievement for finding all the letters about Prudence.

I don’t see how that’s a spoiler, it’s not necessarily mentioned that she’s the “prudent friend”;you have to piece it together.

Actually, the information you need to piece it together is given to you at the very start of the game, so it’s nothing major.

EDIT: “very start of the game” being around the first 20-35 or so minutes
