Is this bioshock?
I've been playing this game for a bit now, and I see some resemblance to the bioshock games. Mainly in the art-style and the insane world-building, that has gripped me by the teeth and made me smile. I am sure there are others that have noticed the same? Is there anyone who knows if the same team built this, or if there is any correlation? - I have to say... Just the first act was a fantastic game. But, by golly, then there is another? Great job, guys!
(Sorry for the grammar. Still no grammar-correct in Steam.)

It needs alot of polishing and is not at all worth $60 maybe $30 at most. It has a decent story and gameplay but it still needs quite a bit of work. "Just take your joy and you won't notice the game's flaws I guess."

despite the bugs, i don't know how a 20-30 hour game isn't a $60 game.

Not even close to being bioshock in terms of quality. Has a similar art style and similar concepts (and they swear it was puuuurely coincidence -_-)

But no. Not even remotely as good as Bioshock. It's buggy, the game world is poorly designed with little variety and just boring level designs. There's almost no combat expirementation like in Bioshock. The world isn't even remotely interesting to explore, whereas each level of Bioshock was overflowing with character and lore.

This game is a joke.

I agree that the world is somewhat boring. The combat is also lacking. (I think that is because the player is not supposed to fight, but sneak or flee.) I have to disagree on the point of the world not being interesting to explore, tho. Yes, I would have liked to see more exploratory content, but that is always true.

Here's the kicker, tho... Do you think there is a lighthouse in here somewhere?

To be fair the devs of the Bioshock Trilogy are not an indie company. They had much more money. Bioshock games also still have bugs to this day too.

In what world, rapture/columbia/wellington wells/ours or otherwise, is this related to the OPs question?

Nothing to do with the original Bioshock team and no correlation apart from some inspiration that came from it

Nope, Bioshock works and isn't nearly as broken as this.

That will be your opinion, bioshock combat is better (unsurprisingly, as its a shooter) but the worls in just a mouse labrinth with no real freedom in terms of movement, a beautiful cage is still a cage, we happy few isnt, also, there is more different mechanics to keep you entertained, like food, water, sleep, joy and crafting.

People actually live in their houses instead of staying there like lampost like in bioshock, etc etc etc.

And, for me, both the bioshock society and the we happy few society are terribly interesting, but i would pick we happy few without a doubt as it actually lets you explore it, instead of showing it behind the windows of your railcar ride.

The only similarity between the tao games is the dystopian theme. Bioshock is a linear FPS game while WHF is supposed to be a story based open world game with side quests, crafting mechanics and all. Bioshock also has the whole concept of quantum physics and fifth dimension while WHF is really more about drugs, media, depression, etc. And it’s style is much more similar to the Orange Clockwork/ Stanley Kubrick’s work than to Bioshock in my opinion.

They share small similarities but overall are very, very different ideas and game genres.

Bioshock was meant to show how the philosphies of Ayn Rand would flawed in the real world if put to practice in the way of a free capitalistic market being corrupted into helping certain people, (e.g. Andrew Ryan sinking Fontaine Futuristics to the bottom of the sea because Fontaine was doing better than Andrew.)

We Happy Few was meant to show the psycological effects and problems of making a population feel or think a certain way, something akin to making them machines made out of meat like said in the game.

Then of course the gameplay is obviously different with Bioshock being a FPS and We Happy Few being an open world game. Other than that the only similarities have to do with the story of each game which is mostly due to them both focusing on society.

It certainly had to potential to convey some actual meaningful themes and ideas, as the bioshock games did. But any poignancy the themes, setting, and narrative may have had - is just pretty much totally smothered by the untenable state of the game.

:( :( :(

I have read the replies and I have come to the conclusion that the question on weather Wellington Wells fits within the Bioshock multiverse is subjective. I see that there are few that would agree that We Happy Few is set in the Bioshock multiverse. In my own personal opinion; We Happy Few does fit quite well in the Bioshock world. There are some reasons for my position and the foremost is the feel;. The feel of the game, how it plays, how it plays on the social experiment, how the world is one not fit to survive, how the characters are, the graphics and animations.. and so on. It just FEELS like a Bioshock game. - Emphasis on the SUBJECTIVE opinion, ofc.

me personally, i would say almost. maybe if the gameplay was more like bioshock, system shock2, dead space, and prey. sure the universe feels very much like bioshock, but the gameplay feels like something else. so instead i'll say inspired

It's the masks and 1960s settinjg, isn't it? I think WHF's references are more from outside gaming, TBH - The Prisoner, Clockwork Orange, even Brave New World with it's all-pervasive soma.
