Church of Genesius/Simon Says Bug?

So I'm at the part of the game in Maidenholm where I'm impersonating Nick Lightbearer and running the game of Simon Says at the church. Problem is, the game won't let one of the NPCs win so I can finish the task. I watched a play through on YouTube where the game stops once there is one person in the contest left but my game makes me keep going down to the last person. And then, when everyone is on the ground writhing in pain, it's still prompting me to continue the Simon says. Anyone have this problem/any ideas to fix it? I saved and closed out and went back in again but it happened the second time too. I'm gonna try to see if third time's the charm.

I just tried the quest today and, after "neutralizing" all the people, I'm still behind the console of Simon Says game.
I can't proceed, too.

Eventually after exiting the game and reentering I was able to enter the church and search it but I couldn't re enter the quest again. I wasn't able to complete it. Maybe on my next run through it will work.

Probably. I'm on my old gameplay, which I started before the last update, so that's why the quest got bugged... again.

Hmm, come to think of it I guess I started playing a few days before the Maidenholm update. Maybe that's why my save acted weird. OK, guess my new save will work a lot better then, hopefully!

Bugged for me as well, just as the OP describes it. I did not start the game before the upgrade, so doubt it#s a savegame bug.

Edit: Upon leaving the game, and reloading I was able to complete the event.

I had this problem too, stuck behind console pushing buttons forever, with everyone on the floor
I saved and exited to desktop and restarted game, but I couldn't reinitiate the quest at the church, and the spankers were in the broken state, zapping away.
I got lucky save scumming with backup windows made 30 min before... REALLY lucky.
Redid looting of Nick's home and went back to the church only to have the same bug, THIS time, I closed the game without saving, restarted and went to the church... I was able to walk into the church, the spankers were broken again, but the quest reinitiated and I was led to the simon says console via cutscene, all with spankers zapping away. I did the simon says game and this time it worked properly..... ish, at least the quest completed. The only main difference is that the last time I did not skip the cutscene in the beginning.

Odd. I haven't experienced this problem and I've probably played it about 6 times or so (you can replay it when you complete it)

I have the very same problem :/ I have experimented a few bugs like this in the game, wich is really annoying, cause the game is real good regardless of that ! I will take a previous save and wish for the best.

Same here, its a shame its been 4 years and no fix, speaks a lot about the designers poor attention to the players

I had it just yesterday. In the current version you can't save during this mission, so I had to exit the game. When I restarted I was sitting on a bench in front of the church and the next task was to enter. Nothing was broken. The second time it proceeded to the cutscene flawlessly.

Can confirm, even playing in 2022, that this still is not fixed. This is my 3rd playthrough of the game & it doesn't seem to happen all the the time. I had no glitches my first playthrough, but in the second I got the spanker glitch where the spanker kept going off, but fortunately, it allowed me to proceed through the quest, even with the spanker going off continuously. I'm honestly surprised it didn't kill me.

My 3rd playthrough is when I got the glitch where you're stuck behind the console. I don't have a fix, but I was fortunate enough where my game did an auto-save immediately before entering the church, so I was able to go to main menu & go back in & the quest wasn't bugged anymore. I did have to perform the quest again, but it wasn't too bad. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any fix for it; you just need to reload your last save or hope the game auto-saved right before it.
