Anyone here use manual transmission?

I just use it because I have a bit of an obsession with using it on any driving game that offers it, even if it makes it harder. (It did make this game harder, at first, but I got used to it. ^_^) Just curious if anyone else chose to use it.

(Oh, and by the way, the shifter controls specified in the controls menu seem to be flipped on the actual controller. I'm using a 360 controller that otherwise functions normally. Sucks that the game uses DirectInput, too; the 360 controller has combined-axis triggers with that. And maybe that's why my controls are different? The pictured controller is for the Xbox One, after all.)

I also use manual transmission it realy helps with the size of my drift. In tight turnes i stay in 2d and in big turnes i go up to 3d gear.

Mee too. With auto I was in top 20 on all mountain tracks. Then I switeched to manual and achieved 16, 8 , 9 , 11 positions on them.

Definitely recommend using manual transmission. It is not that hard really. Mostly you will be on 2nd-3rd gear. There are just a few places where you gotta go up to 4rth. Meaning that you mostly won't be touching throughout the race.

2nd gear for turns, 3rd gear to speed up if vehicle seems to cut short on corner.

Honestly manual is better even if you use 2nd gear only. Automatic seems to do absurd gear changes.

Hold CTRL when you click play and you can set a clutch for clutch kicks.

I cant use it because there is no way to reverse the shift up/down buttons.

i couldn't play it with auto. switched to manual and earned all achievements in my first 4 hours of playing

I also suck at using auto, but i really have no choice because i'm used to having shift down on the left and shift up on the right (X and A, X and B, A and B, LB and RB, etc). The way it is now, X is shift up and A is shift down, so i always do the opposite of what i intended.

I used to use a keyboard with manual and it was good, but once I got the steam controller, oh man. Manual all day, much easier to control drifts with.

I had that trouble also at first. I still get mixed up half the time when I shift but I learned to just keep it on 2nd gear the majority of the time. it may be a car noob thing to do but it works.

Actually, you can map the controls to anything you want through the launcher. To start the launcher hold the CTRL key and click the play button on steam :)
