Front wheel skidmarks?
When drifting your front wheel supposed to have grip (most of the time) to drift you car in the right direction instead of the wall. So where does these skidmarks come from? Or are the tires made of black markers?

You still have marks while driving slowly in a straight line, so I think someone put ink sprayers in the wheel wells.

Cars are 4wd not rwd

In the case of 4wd they should NOT spin out as easily even at 90 degree drift angle (or maybe even more). The front wheels should be able to do more to pull the front in again. And besides; doesn't the starter car look like a AE86 Corolla ? Clearly not awd/4wd car.

For a drift game, although not simulation offcourse, I find it quite a big overlooked detail.

@Andre Most drift cars in the real world are not stock. Some AE86's have V8's, so why not have an AWD one.
It's a place where cars can be anything the creator wants them to be.

An option in the garage would be good though, to switch between RWD, AWD and FWD.

FWD drifting ...?

Mostly for luls

Its probably just a decision of the developer as an effect. If he took it seriously, you wouldn't be able to leave drift marks in the sky. lol

It's a stylistic choice. Looks really nice IMO.

I guess these threads about tire smoke/skids show up for every driving game that has drifting...

This isn't a simulator. It's clearly an aesthetic choice - one that looks pretty cool at that.

yes ! it is awesome and easy control !! you use accelerator to grip again etc ...
i found it hard how it is right now in the game !
with fwd you can drift and control well to avoid 90°turn
Yeah, i'm like 90% certain it's just a really cool stylistic choice. It looks rad when you pull off a crazy long drift combo in the environment and you can easily trace your path by checking out the tire tracks.

I also like the skidmarks. However I sometimes notice that there is white smoke when drifting, which is not really great. A greyish color would be better, because you can also see it in front of the white ground then.

First, it's an aesthetic choice, pretty cool one at that imo.

Second, front wheel tire marks do make sense because of the physics involved in drifting (tires still generate lateral force even when past optimal slip angle). In the rawest of terms, a drift (oversteer) is when the rear tires' slip angle is greater than that of the front; so from that logic you can have a drift state that has the front slipping as well (you often do in high speed drifting).

Depending on your car setup there usually is light skid marks even on rwd cars, It's not from tire spin but tire drag, This is called Ackermann.
