Linux: anyone else having issues not being able to launch the game now? I also get a console message that says "It appears hl2 was not launched within the Steam for Linux sniper runtime environment."

None of these fixes made it in. Forget something?

They did not release server updates yet, but they may have nuked the custom server binaries from orbit that we were using to keep the game stable. Won't be an easy update for the server owners and its yet to be seen if all the content can be ported (And how soon content can be ported).

Yes linux is utterly broken currently, first class tables errors for srcds now they appear to have launched an update that changed those back to old.

AND they completely broke the game on Linux. Wont even launch. RIP.

Unfortunate that the Linux build is broken; Valve, please fix.

I think it would have been great if HL2DM was merged with Half-Life 2 and its episodes, so it can be like Half-Life 1's deathmatch. I think more people would be tempted to play it that way.

Hey! Lemme tell you that all you have to do is install Half-Life 2 and it's two episodes.

Boot up episode 1, quit as soon as you can. Do the same for episode 2.

Then boot up the main game!

Properties - Compatibility - "Force the use of..." - "Steam Linux Runtime 3.0 (sniper)" (NOT Proton).
Note: it may be hidden until you select 1.0.

Anyway the game is don't work. hl2.sh is trying to launch hl2_linux64, which is doesn't exist.

Yeah, I checked both branches, main and pre-release, and it's still the older, broken stuff, except I can't join servers anymore.
