or come to an agreement with that player to use certain weapons only, while turning off cl_autowepswitch so walking on a better weapon won't make you switch to it.
Hmm. Source:stripper seems a little bit fiddly to get running, plus most of the download links I can find 404.
As for re-compiling, is there a simple way to do this? I know how to use hammer to an intermediate degree, but I'm unsure how to, as you put it, "recompile with strip/equip". I get extracting the map with vmex, but trigger_weapon_strip takes away all weapons while game_player_equip only adds weapons to a player immidiately on spawn... what I'm saying is, wouldn't it just give them a gravity gun and crowbar, only to immidiately remove them? What of the weapons lying around in the maps themselves? Do I have to delete them too?
u apply strip to take away the default weapons (ggun, crowbar/stunstick, pistol, smg and grenade), and in the equip you can add ANYTHING you want, u just put them one after the other, and not at the same time... they can be as thin as 1 unit high, and u place each spawn point (info_player_deathmatch) so that it passes through them, first strip, then equip
i think first map i modified like this was https://hl2dm.net/request.php?80 but that was easy as all spawns are in the beginning

Sadly right now it only works on one map which was designed just for grav gun fights.
