Insecure Mode

Hi all,
Playing this on Steam Deck (owned this title since 2018 lol) and everything I try to join a match it says to refresh after turning off insecure mode. I tried going to properties and using Steam Linux but then game won't launch at all. If I use Proton, game launches but then cannot connect to secure servers.

Unfortunately that's the state of the current linux build for clients. There's an open issue on Github for it: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games/issues/6556

You're not alone, I have the same issue. The Linux binary has been completely absent from the anniversary update.
You can play the game via Proton on insecure servers only
Sadly we Linux users have thus been shunned out of the anniversary activity spike...
And I doubt the (easy) fix will come before the interest has ebbed.
