Friend can't see and join my server

I have created a server using ingame menu to play 1 vs 1 with my friend, but he can't see the server and can't connect to it even using command connect "ip" -> server is not responding. Tried it via internet and lan (tunngle).

Is there a way to create a server that friends can see and join?

Go to Steam Forums and look up dedicated server, someone had told me you need this to have others see and join your IP, I have never done so myself but thats what i was told. Hope this helps :)

Thank you. Finally I got it to work by using dedicated server. It was quite tricky.
