Run game with out steam?
Is there a possible way to run this game without steam? Everytime I try it says invalid key for internet servers. That's me trying to start a game though.

Running it directly trough a shortcut is possible if you use -steam in the shortcut but steam still needs to be running. Without it you would need a vallid CD key but none where ever given out and i dont think that plays well with the servers.

The main reason you absolutely need to use steam is that the servers use your steam id as an identification method. For example on the servers i operate we use your steam id to keep track of your score without the need to login to a seperate server account.

Another reason you need steam running is the fact almost all servers use VAC and VAC is tempoarily installed by the steam service as long as the game is running.

There exist methods to make it work properly without steam but even then you need servers that are specifically configured to make it happen and as long as steam is operational most respectable server owners simply wont do that since that would enable piracy.
