Trine 2 runs at 60 FPS in 1080p stereo 3D (I think output is still downsampled to 720p by PS4). In theory, you could run at 30 FPS in 4k without stereo 3D for about same amount of GPU power. PS4 Pro has around twice the GPU power, and additional features that would help, but need some work. So, in theory there are many ways to implement 4k (HDR as a checkbox feature is pretty trivial, so that's not a problem).
However, Trine 2 uses very old version of renderer. Trine 3 is also getting pretty old. Implementing new stuff for them may not be directly useful for their current projects. I also find it doubtful that Sony (or some other company) would pay for new versions, or that the new versions would significantly improve sales.
Now, maybe we'll also get an answer from someone from Frozenbyte :) .

Sadly I don't have good news. We are currently focusing on new projects, so it's unfortunately unlikely we'll add updates to this. Sorry if it's disappointing to hear. :(
Still thank you for your interest, and cheers!
Just promise us that after your new game you will return to Trine 3;-)
