We have to make numerous tough decisions regarding which words, phrases, and orders to keep. Our apologies for that.
I'm having trouble getting the voice recognition working at all and id love som help - as i think this is a fantastic game (as ive seen on youtube :)
Heres me issue:
- I have never had a voice command recognised. I can get the voice bar moviung up and down, and confirm my mic is working in device manager and by talking with friends over steam chat, but not one command works including war room, holding PTT, disabling PTT etc
- Ive tried every possible voice setting and level with no luck
- ive restarted multiple times after changing settings etc
- there is no voicelogerror.txt file in the directory
- Tried manually installing the english AU sound files from the acoustics folder
what i havnt tried:
-reinstalling the game
Thanks for your help
Mike.
Disable push-to-talk. Exit and restart the game, go straight into the audio calibration and see whether it recognises "Loud and clear".
Does it make a 'beep..... bop' when you press and release push-to-talk? (When it's enabled, of course.) A few times, mine didn't, still haven't worked out the cause of it since it just started working again.
If you're getting the beeps, try it (with PTT enabled) then exit and check the contents of steamapps\common\There Came an Echo\ThereCameanEcho_Data. Are you seeing something like this:
Bear in mind this is just based on troubleshooting for my own problems, so maybe your problem is something completely different.

This is the error log. I'm running on win 7 64 bit.
I'm not a native speaker but I tested my mic with the built in windows speech recognition software and it's definitely not me. I can dictate to my computer with around 90% accuracy without any previous calibration. Assistance would be appreciated.
EDIT: I'm using the English US setting. I've been told I have a "neutral" accent but personal experience has shown me that speech recognition software works best when I set it to EN(US).
Weird.
I'm using a cheap Philips headset that doesn't come with any custom drivers(like the fancy gaming ones) but so far I've been using it about a year with no issues I find it very strange that it might conflict with the game. Unfortunately I don't think there's anything else I can use unless old HTC earplugs count. :D
This is the error that I am getting in the error log:

@Danisimo: If you could try the weird earbuds just to test "loud and clear", that would help ascertain if the problem is indeed stemming from the headset drivers themselves. We *have* had limited issues with driver support that we're trying to work through.
We did find this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830297, but it seems that they want you to contact them directly for a hotfix? This is an extremely strange error. If there are any irregular settings you've taken in your Windows installation or configuration, you should let us know to help us track down a solution.
Thanks for your help !
- Yes it makes the beep...bop' sounds, but i dont think its being acknoweldged with PTT on or not. Should something happen when 'Lound and clear' is succesfully heared? ie, a 'we read you' or the icon changes red etc? im starting to feel a bit stupid saying this word over and over again with no idea what should happen ;D
- I tried what you mentioned and found a .txt files called 'output_log' in the folder you mentioned, but nothing about fails etc showed up - is this where i should be looking? i cant find any other .txt files in the whole games directory, so i just assumed it was this one. I have no idea what any of it means, should i paste the data in here?
- Overall it seem that the program can hear me, but maybe cant understand what im saying at all - ive tried mucking around with my headset settings , - ie, db levels - but to no avail
Any ideas?
Thanks again for your help guys.
Mike
Like Sayonara mentioned, I recommend grabbing the output_log.txt and sending it my way, to iridium@playiridium.com! I can hopefully assist more from there.
so here is my error log.
