Problem Running The Game
I recently encountered a problem when trying to play the game. I used to play it on my old laptop with a lot of problems, only because of how old the laptop was and not because of the game itself, I recently got a new laptop and decided to play the game again and actually finish it seeing as my new laptop could actually run the game properly.

The game launches perfectly, however when starting a new game I immediately get a pop-up message that says Error code: 80070057 with a list of files that cannot be found on my C: Drive according to the error message. I found a discussion on the forum that has a bunch of options to resolve the issue in a step by step format from checking for errors with my system itself to verifying my game files and deleting the game folder in my C: Drive that contains my saved games and so on for Life is Strange specifically. I followed all of these recommendations and unfortunately I still get the error message when trying to start a new game.

I am not a very technological person, but when checking the games properties to set it to run as administrator I saw the option to run the game for Windows 8 and I want to know if this could solve the problem without causing harm to my current PC or if there are any other fixes for this problem. Also for reference, my old laptop where the game launched and ran perfectly (with lag because of my old graphics card and so on) operated on Windows 10 and my current laptop operates on the latest version of Windows 11.

Could you please post a screenshot or copy & paste full list of the missing files? It'd be really helpful as we'd be able to narrow down the issue.

Just to make it clear - did you get any errors listed after using the sfc /scannow command?

It won't cause any harm to your PC and it's totally safe to do, but I'm pretty sure it won't change anything regarding your issue.

List of missing files would really useful (like I mentioned earlier in my post), but there's couple of other things you can safely do:
1. Try running the game in Safe mode to check if it works then.
Right click on 'Life is Strange' in your Steam Library -> Properties -> General -> Selected Launch Option -> Ask When Starting Game
Now run the game and pick 'Launch Safe Mode' option.
2. 'Life is Strange' requires a specific C++ Redistributable package to work and in some cases the game doesn't install them properly so you have to do it manually. You'll find them at:

X:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2012
(or similar location depending where on your HDD/SSD you installed Steam)

After getting to this location install BOTH packages (x86 and x64 versions) and try running the game then. If they are already installed on your PC simply use the 'Repair' option in the installers.

If you want to learn bit more about these packages or make sure it's safe to use them you'll find all the info on the official Microsoft website:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

Let me know if it helped. If not, we'll try something else.
