Have you tried making the game run as an administrator and then applying those settings? And then playing the game not from running the desktop shortcut or from steam itself but the .exe file?
This has something to do with either your account not being transferred over as administrator account properly... or in Windows 10 it makes the C Drive protected from changes and the only way to make the changes is to run the program as administrator.
It is absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and ridiculous. So far, every game I have played that saves onto the C Drive has needed to be run as admin. This is yet another game which I never thought of this... and found out my entire gameplay of Episode 1 not saved coz I forgot to test this and make sure it saved before playing.
Make sure you do it with all future games in Win 10. Get to a saved point, exit and double check. Or look to see if it saves to the C Drive. The only thing I hate about Windows 10 atm and I have no idea how to fix this.
I was able to launch my game but found out my game was not saving.
Running as admin resolves the issue of not being able to save the game.... but as the original post instructed above, it does not work - or did not work for me - launching the game from the exe file. You need to launch the game from the Desktop Shortuct: Life Is Strange.
So, you need to follow the following steps:
- Locate the exe file as described above: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Life Is Strange\Binaries\Win32
- Right click on the LifeIsStrange.exe file
- Select Properties > Compatibility Settings
- Tick the box "Run as Admin"
- BUT do NOT run from that exe file. Select OK or Apply
- Locate the Desktop Shortcut Life Is Strange that was created from steam.
(If you do not have this, locate the game in the library and right click the file and create a desktop icon.)
This will definitely launch the game.
HOWEVER - if this game does not save for you. If you exit to the desktop, go back in and it says "start game" instead of "continue" on the Save File, then you will also need to follow this last step below - This didn't work for me when I didn't run the game as administrator... so I'm not sure if both of these are done.
Locate C:\Users\<username>\documents\My Games\Life Is Strange
If there is no Life Is Strange folder then create it. Then in that folder create: Saves
It should then read: C:\Users\Username\Documents\my games\Life Is Strange\Saves
Hope this helps! It took my boyfriend and I an hour or so to figure this part out! Mostly just realising we had to run from the desktop shortcut... Which is odd as The Sims 4 I did exactly the same thing, and ran as admin from the actual exe file. Apparently this didn't like it for me.
