Soundproblems (Only music, no voices...)

Hi there,

so this is actually a problem i have since a while...but it kept coming and going, somtimes it worked without any problem. At the beginning I sometimes had problems with the voices, especially in dialoges, but fewer times in monologe. But lately, since I finally got some time to play, and after the recently patch/update the problem stays/got worse. I started playing episode 4. Review of what happened before works totaly fine. But but the episode "really starts", I'm just able to hear the background music. I can't even say, if they are talking at the beach. Then suddely I have to decide?? I thought, maybe I will hear the voices after deciding, but it looked like the game skipped really fast without voices or subtitles (you don't see their lips moving, too) and you got to make the next decision. I even went through the whole dialoge without anything. After that I always get a black screen, game freezes and it's gone.

This is really frustrating and I don't know, what to do now. :(
I went through some threads in the tec. support forum, but none of it matches my problem.

Any idea? Maybe someone has the same problem? *Please let there be one*

Did you already try to verify the game cache? Sound like corrupt game files.

Hmm, I have no idea how to do that. Could you explain me?
But I started episode 4 at the second saveslot (I forgot how you call that) again or something like that...

I ran into the same issue yesterday:
- no sound during "Photo cutscenes" (I ignored this while playing)
- no sound during EP5 Ending Cutscene (this made me actually have to look for a fix)

A post from the Shadow of Mordor reddit finally suggested the fix that worked for me.

Hi,

I've solved the issue but installing DirectX, but not the web installer. I had to install DirectX 9 Redistributable June 2010 from http://download.microsoft.com/download/8/4/A/84A35BF1-DAFE-4AE8-82AF-AD2AE20B6B14/directx_Jun2010_redist.exe
