Why is it there? The hell
It's probably from the store and she must have forgot to bring it to the kitchen.
And max didn't make any attempt to bring the whole thing into the kitchen either.
I mean it's not a huge issue or anything as it can be explained away that the Dad noticed there wasn't anything much for breakfast so went to go get some essentials knowing that his wife was going to get the full shabang later. But still such an odd place to find the eggs.
As to why they aren't in the fridge, this as a cultural thing to do with the developers being french rather than american. In europe chickens are required to be vaccinated against salmonella and as such there is no need to refrigerate eggs unless you plan to store them for over a week. It's actually advised that shops don't refrigerate them prior to sale as it could cause condensation to form on the shell which could encourage bacterial growth. In USA vaccination is not required and only about a third of flocks are vaccinated so all eggs are refrigerated to prevent growth of salmonella.
