To Intervene or to Take a Photo
This has been bugging me. I intervened to help Kate at the dorms, but I really started to regret my decision when the next episode rolled around. If you chose to blame David, you would get suspended! If you took a photo, then blamed David, he would get fired(?). I blamed Nathan in the end, but I worry that I need to save evidence that some really weird stuff is happening at Blackwell. What did you guys do?

I intervened and blamed it on David, and all you get is a "You dont have prooof blabla" not suspension o_O

Well David doesn't really seem like the type to have a secret master plan. Everything he does is so on the surface and gung-ho, so all the picture really proves is that he's too aggressive about his job. When you hear him talk and consider who his step daughter is it's pretty clear that his heart in the right place, he's just too aggressive and weird about it.... Only thin that's weird is the pictures, maybe he's trying to compile a report and feels photo evidence of Kate's movements is necessary; I dunno he just seems very confused about Kate or it's just poor writing trying to draw attention to Kate and make David seem like a bad guy... because given what he's investigating he should probably be stalking Victoria and Nathan instead, but maybe they're too well protected with all their money and influence so David wants to pressure Kate into ratting on them?

In any case I doubt David is part of any grand conspiracy, but... I still took his picture on my 2nd playthrough because it seems to holds more power in the long run. 1st playthrough I intervened and regretted not having any sort of leverage or proof of anything, but intervening does make saving Kate a little bit easier...
Now for the picture you have to deal with Kate guilt tripping you like 4 times and when she's on the roof you have to say " I was too scared" to prevent her from backing up, but in return you get leverage over David in 3 conversations and can use it against him at the end of episode 3, so it is objectively the better choice since it gives you more options, whereas intervening only saves you from possibly making one mistake when trying to save Kate.

After episode 2 I kind of feel like telling the principal, taking the picture, comforting Victoria, and taking NOT taking the blame for the pot is the perfect combo of choices...
1: telling the principal lets you get Nathan suspended.... Not sure if it effects David getting suspended if you have the photo proof.
2: picture goes like I said above
3: the Victoria choice is largely cosmetic and flavor dialogue, it doesn't actually limit any options yet. I think maybe making fun of her could lead to you being able to report her and get her expelled for her constant bullying, and comforting her may lead to convincing her to redeem herself and turn on Nathan... What with everything that has happened with Kate.
4: this one is probably surprising to some, but I would choose to take the blame for the short term benefits from Chloe and because you can always reverse the decision by telling David the truth in the school hallway which will stop him from accusing you at the principal meeting. I was mistaken... taking the blame can get you suspended depending on the first choice and who you blame.

This could all change in episode 3 though if episode 1 choices still play a major role... Who knows maybe Kate tries to kill herself again because the picture of David and her gets around with everyone saying she's having sex with him... You never know.

From what I've heard if you told the truth to the principal and have no proof of David bullying Kate Nathan likely chimes in attacking Max for accusing him as well, and so the principal suspends you.

I took the picture because before the answering machine message in Chloes house, I assumed he'd be more of an antagonist than it looks like he will be, and that photographic evidence of is jackassery would be valuable later in the game.

Thank you so much! This really clears some things up.

I only felt sort of bad for not intervening because Kate wouldn't let it drop in episode 2.. And then, she died D:

Actually, I also took the blame for the pot and then told the truth to David in the hallway, and he still blamed me for being a dealer in the office. But I had another weird occurence with that dialogue - Jefferson saying Kate was upset about me not answering her calls, which I'd told him before I HAD - so my save might have just glitched up.

I'm not so sure about this. Even if he believes you, he still has a vested interest in shifting the blame away from himself if you accuse him.

From the testing I've done, I think there's a few ways it can go down:
  • Max accuses Jefferson
    • Jefferson gets taken off of the Everyday Heroes contest (always)
  • Max accuses David
    • If Max didn't take a photo
      • If Max hid the truth about Nathan
        • Nothing happens
      • If Max revealed the truth about Nathan
        • If Max took the blame for Chloe's pot
          • Max gets suspended
        • If Max didn't take the blame for Chloe's pot
          • Nothing happens
    • If Max took a photo
      • David gets put on a temporary leave of absence
  • Max accuses Nathan
    • If Max revealed the truth about Nathan
      • Nathan gets suspended
    • If Max hid the truth about Nathan
      • If Max took the blame for Chloe's pot
        • Max gets suspended
      • If Max didn't take the blame for Chloe's pot
        • Nathan gets suspended

SURPRISE ATTACK! Apr 23, 2015 @ 12:10am
There's also an option to report David to Mr. Jefferson. I don't know what effect that has though.

Jefferson calls you out if you report David but end up accusing Jefferson. No other consequences have been shown yet.

Since I don't trust Jefferson, I try to avoid reporting David to him (and I accuse Jefferson in half of my saves)

You guys are right, I was basing it off of 2nd hand experience here, but I think there was a lot of confusion in that topic. Since I never actually tried the "no" choice myself, I thought it was more up front like: "No, it was Chloe's I was just backing up my friend in a heated situation." I tested by going back to the classrooms on one of my saves and trying it, and yep... still got suspended

As for Jefferson, he always says that; it's either a bug, or he's just trying to get you in trouble. Also I noticed something pretty cool while testing out the pot thing just now... if you screw around with the rewind function you can actually stand in between Kate and Jefferson as they're talking, and even interrupt them by triggering Jefferson's conversation with Max. At first it looked like she was just going to stiffly walk away like nothing happened all buggy and unrealistic, but then as she leaves she says something like: "I see, I'm not important to you anymore, nobody cares, nobody!" Also their short little looping argument is pretty interesting too, with Mark repeatedly asking her to tell the truth and saying shes being a brittle martyr. Pretty cool that it was included considering that when you play normally all you ever hear is "so you can't help me?..." and then Kate just walks off even if you run straight for the door.

I took the photo, purely because I was thinking ahead and hoped I'd get to use it as evidence at some point- to the headmaster or something. Seriously, even when Kate had a go at me I wasn't even tempted to rewind because I knew (hoped/prayed) there would likely be an opening somewhere to show the picture and help her in the long run.

I think I play too much Phoenix Wright but it works out in the end!
