Bought Episodes 1-5 - Not showing up under 'DLC'
So, I bought episode 1 slong with the other complete episodes, and just noticed under the 'DLC' tab that 'You currently have no downloadable content for this product.' appears.
Is this normal, or anyone else has this?

Yes, I bought episode one, then episodes 2-5, so far nothing has appeared.
PBFred Feb 14, 2015 @ 3:40am
I've actually been giving Steam hell about this for over almost 2 weeks now. Within the past 36 hours, they finally updated their Store page to say that Episodes 2-5 aren't released yet... it didn't say that before.

Besides having the joystick plugged in error (an .ini fix) and the sound stutter (another .ini fix) and also FPS in the 13 range (a turning off AA and Shadows fix). When I finally got these fixed, I restarted the game and it only took about an hour to play the 1st Episode, which I thoroughly thought was great.

But then I was seriously pissed off when I found out that Episodes 2-5 haven't been released yet. Not only not released, but only through searching the web was I able to find out that E2 should be released sometime in March, and no dates are scheduled for the releases of E3-5.

According to Steam, since I have played the game (even though only 20% of what I paid for is available) and to quote them "Steam provides a number of features to assist you in evaluating games prior to purchase. These features include Steam Reviews, Steam Discussions, and Metacritic scoring. An exception to this would be pre-purchase titles, in which case it may be best to wait until after the game is released to make your purchase decision if you aren’t 100% certain you will enjoy the game."

This means that it is best for me to wait until after a game has been released for me to purchase it so I know what other's think about it. After reading a dozen or so reviews is why I bought all 5 Episodes. But not once, which is NOW a Sticky (posted yesterday), did it mention that only E1 was released. And that really is my issue with them. It's not a money factor, it is a comple false advertising factor, and in which the sale price for all 5 Episodes is now the normal price (hell of a sale).

So, because of their false advertising, and me only reading about a dozen reviews... It is somehow my fault that I didn't know that only E1 was released?!?

I asked for a refund, even saying that Store credit would be fine (I'm definitely buying GTA V, unless the port tuns out really bad) because they don't have any set dates on when the rest of the game would be released. And since I truly like this game, I will definitely buy it once it is completely released. But I got a big NO because, and I quote, "Episodes 2-5 will be available to play in your library when they are released in the future." And that was it, no dates, or even possible dates scheduled. WTH kind of pre-purchase option is that? And it still is a pre-purchase option to buy E2-5.

BTW, I did also ask them what happens if all 5 Episodes aren't released? And I didn't get a response to that question.

I doubt I am the only one, but I definitely did my part to at least get Steam to change the Store to say that only E1 is available.

Honestly, I've never had a single issue with Steam until this. And honestly, I am not too happy with the way they handled it. But, they pretty much got us by the "short hairs" these days if we want to play most games that are available on a PC. So what can we do?

Regarding the "BTW, I did also ask them what happens if all 5 Episodes aren't released? And I didn't get a response to that question." From my understanding, all 5 episodes have been made, however they are going through some last minute changes, aswell as fixing issues, sound and or what not to give us a higher quality game, so they will get released. Pluss, from my understanding Life is Strange has been pretty succesful so I don't see why they would have to stop.

But yes, it would be nice if they told us when the next episodes would be released ingame and or on Steam. And of course, changed the "purchase" to "coming soon" or something as that for us who bought all five episodes.
PBFred Feb 14, 2015 @ 7:48am
Drake, thanks for the info... and I hope it is correct.

But I am curious how you came about it, while I couldn't find it anywhere? I am a Sr. Systems Engineer, so I do know my way around the Net about as well as anyone could expect when it comes to info like this. And I found zero info, with the exception that E2 should be released in March. Literally, that was the only future info I could find out about the game. So I am really curious as to where you got your info.

Do you have a contact inside Dontnod? And if so, do you have have any clue as to when they should be finished with E2-5?

BTW, the release of a buggy game doesn't bother me as much as the non-release of when a game may be released info is withheld. At least when a buggy game is released, and people are playing it, the QA people should be fixing it as fast as possible. And if not them, experienced users posts answers to problems, like the joystick issue (in this case). But when nothing is released, only those at Dontnod can be working on it to fix the bugs.

And while you say that Life is Strange has been pretty successful so far... the fact that prices have dropped to below what was the "sale" price almost 2 weeks ago, makes me wonder about that. Considering the game is, accoring to loading the game, based on the Unreal Engine, really makes me wonder how Anti-Alliasing and Shadows caused me to go from 13-14 FPS to 130+ FPS when I turned them off (I've got CrossFiredX 7870's). Not to mention the sound skipping needing an .ini fix to add more memory to fix it.

The joystick issue I have experience once before, I forget which game, but it thinks you are using an XBox controller when you aren't, but it was so long ago, it took me a while to fix (which was an easy fix, once I realized the problem.) But again, years later, I'm amazed I ran into the same problem.

So, while I'm not a fan of bugs in new games (who is?), 2 of the 3 bugs I encountered seem rather weird. It's as if they aren't using the Unreal Engine as advertised. Granted, not a big issue, but I don't like being lied to, and having to turn off AA and Shadows to fix my FPS problem seems to imply that Dontnod has some serious coding issues, or they aren't using the Unreal Engine. If they are, then it would appear that they have some serious inexperienced coders.

While I really want E2-5 to be released as soon as possible, the fact that Steam won't give me a timetable, and the bugs I've encountered are on the side of a non-professional game producer, really brings to light that I asked for a refund (of a way cheaper than normal game) and Steam refuses to do so... even though I though I said I would be happy with Store credit. In which 80% of the game hasn't been released yet, rather bothers me.

When I bought GTA IV, and it wouldn't play on the machine I had at the time, because it is the most CPU intensive game I've encounted, I didn't ask for my money back, because I knew it was my fault that I didn't do enough research. I just looked at having a GPU that was way higher than required and missed the CPU requirement.

This all makes me question Steams' values... and what the hell does it take to get a refund? As far as I can tell so far, they don't give refunds.

I guess the word to weary is to use American Express... because, no matter what.... hell, you could not like the shade of color of something in the game, AmEx will refund your money. No clue what Steam will do to you when it comes to next purchase.... but my best guess is that they will still take your money for it.

At the end of episode 1, they say that episode 2 is coming in March and it seems that there will be about 6 weeks between each episode.

Second ep. is defenently coming since unfortunently it got leaked and some people already have ep.2 achievements because of that. Cant say anything about 3-5 tho.

The game is listed as an episodic game though? You wouldn't ask for a refund on a roguelike game because your save file got deleted so why would you want to ask for a refund on an episodic game that just came out? Like it or not episodic games have become pretty popular recently and if you didn't know what the genre was then that's on you, not on steam support and you should in no way be getting a refund just because you didn't do your research.

It doesn't say that it's not all out yet? it kind of does. It says "episodic" and consideing it's a new game...

As for your timetable, it looks like after each episode is released it will show when the next one is set to come out at the end, I admit it's not really what you were asking for but you can expect them to come out at prett yregular intervals, probably ~6-8 weeks
PBFred Feb 18, 2015 @ 5:17am
First of all, I understand the concept of Episodic games. But, do you not agree that when purchasing one of these games, it should be listed as to how many episodes have been released up front... and you not needing to dig through a ton of posts to find this information?

Especially when the number of episodes is actually listed, in this case 5. If it had been stated in a way to leave it open-ended, which is a possibilty with episodic games, that would have caused me to look further into how many episodes had been released. And how often to expect a new episode. But this wasn't the case when I made my purchase.

As I pointed out in my previous post, Steam finally updated their purchasing page, after 2 weeks of my complaining, to state that only E1 has been released. At the time of my purchase, of all 5 episodes, I truly had no clue that they weren't released... and this was after reading quite a few reviews of the game.

And then to top things off, when I contacted Steam about a refund (actually stating that store credit would be fine), they flat out refused "because I had played the game". They could have split the difference and offered to refund the E2-5 price and not the price of just purchasing E1, but they didn't. It was just a flat out "No".

And their "No", according to them, was because I didn't do my research about the game. This is what truly bothers me. It appears, that no matter what you purchase, you will not get your money back from Steam because it is all on us, as consumers, to figure out if a game will play on our machine, or if the game even exists.

Also, while the timetable of when episodes will be released appear to be in the 4-8 week range, no one has stated as to where they have received this info. And it definitely didn't exist 2 weeks ago via normal search routes. Nor did Steam relay this info to me.

Hell, I don't want a refund anymore, because, like I said, I did really like E1, and now, through people posting and not Steam, I actually have a timetable of when episodes should be released. So I will just wait it out (it was a rather cheap game to begin with).

But because of this experience with Steam, it will definitely cause me to never pre-order a game. GTA IV is a perfect example of why. I didn't do my research about it and only found out after I bought it that I didn't have the CPU power to run the game, even though my GPU power was far above requirements (GTA IV being the only game that I've encountered, in recent times, that dumped so much onto the CPU instead of the GPU.) So I literally had to wait over 2 years to play it, because I didn't have the money to upgrade my machine. And to top it off, I didn't even complain to Steam about it because when I looked back at the requirements, the CPU power required was listed from the start, and like I said, I just happened to miss that fact. Since it was clearly listed, it was my fault, not Steam's. Unlike Life is Strange was listed.

In the case of Life is Strange, only two weeks after I complained, it is now clearly listed. But the $15 or so that I should be refunded isn't that big of deal. But with GTA V pushed back another month, I will definitely wait and see what PC gamers have to say about the port before I buy a $60 or so game. Even the latest release of PC Gamer magazine lists its review based on the console version... and they plan to re-review it when it finally gets ported and released to the PC.

They are not released.
They won't appear untill they are registered in steam then the devs have to "unlock" or release it.

I bought all episodes, and you can't re-buy them. In game it will tell you to buy them even if you bought it. If you try to purchase it again it will not let you. If you bought the full season you have nothing to worry about.

You will get access to the episodes as they release. No worries, you wern't cheated. With Square Enix behind this I'm looking forward to a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome story like the walking dead with the option of reversing choices.

Do keep in mind that thanks to me, and I am sure quite a few others, it now states that only Episode 1 is released. It didn't say so for the first couple of weeks.

Also, just buying E1 used to be $8, with the 5 Episode Pack costing $28... and the sale price, in which I bought the 5 Episode Pack being $20. Now the standard price is $5 for just E1 and the great sale price I got for the 5 Episode Pack is now the standard price of $20.

My main point I've had with Steam, is that they didn't state any where that E2-5 were'nt released yet, and that they refused to refund my money on the E2-5 portion.

Just something to keep in mind when buying anything from Steam, especially pre-orders.
carlica Feb 20, 2015 @ 7:13am
Hmm, I've never had an issue with episode 2-5 not being released yet. Howwever, having bought episode one, and then the sasson pass (ep 2-5) afterwards, I still would expect the upcoming episodes to be listed under DLCs. Techincally I should still own a Steam subscription on that content, even if I can't play it just yet.It. How about other game pre-purchases (I've never pre-purchased one before so I wouldn't know) ... is it the same, that those games only appear in your library when they're released, or would you at least get the title in your library along with some notice "not available yet"?

Basically, what you are asking is my entire issue with Steam.

I had no clue that E2-5 were'nt already releasesed. There was no notice that only E1 was the only Episode that was released. (Until two weeks after me fighting with them about this.)

So when I went to play E2, it really pissed me off that I had bought E1-5, because E2 hadn't even been released, let alone the rest of episodes.

And what really, honestly, pissess me off the most is the Steam, when I bought all 5 Episodes, didn't say that only the first one was released, and that that E2-5 would be released later... again, without any timeline. So I tried to get my money back, and they have repeadetly refused.

Honestly, if you can't get your money back for a game that hasn't been released yet, how corrupt can a company be?

I, thankfully, didn't pre-purchase GTA V, which was supposed to released about 3 weeks ago, yet, the new release date is about 5 weeks from now.

So, if they follow the "Life is Strange" deal and you wanted to get your money back from pre-purchasing GTA V, you would be screwed, because Steam will not refund your money.
