I must say it was a really tough choice. For one side - after seeing what happens when siding with Chloe - I feel really bad for making it really bad between Joyce and David, since they seem to really love each other despite the quarrels between David and Chloe.
On the other side I have to say: David is completly overdoing everything about "Security". He stalks students, spies (with cameras!) on the own family and pretty much thinks everyone is bad and evil.
Just reading three times "drugs?" in the report about Kate made me dislike him a bit more, instead of actually trying to help her, he just accusses her for surely being a bad girl who takes drugs all the time.
So I think, while he may want to do the right thing, his methods really earns him a mental punch in the face that he notices, what he is doing at the moment is just the wrong way.
So I will go with what Joyce says after siding with Chloe "David brought this upon himself".
I would go as far as not only female students. When you side with Chloe he says "You women are all the same" (or something like that). So it might fit quiet well, that he sees women as evil-beings or something like that. For whatever reason.
IDK. In the last episode, I told the principal about him and Kate arguing and have no idea if he is fired or not. Nathan mentioned it, and at the same time he was still working at school.
Anyway, I felt choosing him over Nathan and Mr. J was the better option to not get on their bad side (don't trust them) and I felt really bad about it because I don't think he is guilty anymore .
I chose him cuz I think getting on David's good side might be beneficial in the future. I believe the cameras might be for protection only.
About the confronting only females thing - he may be a little harsh and aggressive sometime, but I think he may just be protective of them.
He is a bit of a jerk (prob the ptsd), but he genuinely cares. If he didn't care about Chloe, why bother warning her to stay away from certain groups of people (the phone message). Obv he knows some sketchy things are going on with the girls at Blackwell.
The bedroom cams are a bit creepy though.
He was confronting Kate for info on the party. Maybe he didn't know she couldnt remember. David knew about Rachel and drugs + Frank + Vortex club, maybe he though Kate could help him find Rachel.
How could he be teaming up with Nathan, but hating on Frank. Maybe he was just using Nathan for intel.
If you look at the file he has on Kate it was clear he had been stalking her and assumed she was involved with drugs. Almost every mention of her in his files has the word drugs and assuming that's what she's doing. She was in the restroom must be doing drugs. She was upset about being accused of these things she's clearly guilty. He actually says "guilty" in his file on her about her reaction to him going off at her. You even saw him taking a photo of Kate. And the files show that he did the same to Rachel and that he teamed up with Nathan to go after her. They had accused Rachel of being a drug mule and the files in the principal's office mention that Rachel had said that David had been following her. And then David has a file on Max with her class schedule. None of this is being protective of them. Especially when accusing them of being involved with drugs along with stalking them and keeping files on everything they do. He's just plan harassing and stalking female students and tells himself they're involved with drugs as a way to justify this while the very person he teamed up with when he went after Rachel was someone who's well known for being involved with drugs. How long till he starts stalking Max and assuming everything she's doing has to do with drugs?
Oh yes right. Maybe he is just being lead in the wrong direction though.
I don't think his intentions can be that bad because he is a security guard after all. His job is to protect the students. Maybe he just goes about it the wrong way.
It could be the fact that Nathan is a part of it. Maybe sending him in the wrong direction for his gain. Maybe tipping him off that Kate does drugs so if she ever mentions her drugging at the party no one will believe.
I just find it interesting that female students are being targeted, and that David is now keeping an eye on them/ wanting to get cameras. Yeah, also hassling them. It may be for drugs, but it could end up as a good thing as well.
Still about the Nathan thing. You say he is well known for being involved with drugs, but so is Frank and David hates him.Why would he be teaming up with Nathan, unless it was just for info?
I'm just trying to look at it from all angles here. I honestly have no idea, but I refuse to believe David is just plain bad. Especially after seeing him upset in Joyce's arms at the end of ep 2.
And in general, I side against Chloe. She's an okay person, but a walking tornado. Everything is a big deal and out to get her. It's all me me me me me. If she is ever right, I will go with it. But until then, she needs to chill on the tantrums a bit.
Well as I said earlier either he's incompetent, afraid of Nathan, working for Nathan or possibly he just has a thing against female students. Of all the people to spy on suspecting them of drugs does it never occur to him to look into Nathan? I don't see it as a good thing that female students are being stalked and harassed because he thinks they're all guilty of being involved with drugs. And if Nathan is able to manipulate David then he's likely to do a lot more harm. Even if he means well he's certainly not someone I'd want being in charge of security. From the moment he stepped in the house he was rude towards Max and we also don't know if they'll get a divorce over this but his reaction to being confronted over the fact he's been stalking female students and keeping files on them was being rude to his wife and to Max. For someone who likes to tell others they need to grow up he really needs to take his own advice. And as for what happens if you side with Chloe well Joyce was right, David brought it on himself.
