Well, Max is still the same. Conveniently, Alternate-Reality-Chloe hasn't met Vortex-Club-Max, so she wouldn't know that this is actually Main-Timeline-Max' mind in Vortex-Club-Max' body.
At the very Start of the Game you get to rescue Chloe with your Time Rewind Power from Dying. That's when the 2. Timeline got into the Story. The 3. Timeline happens when you rescue Chloe's father from dying in the car accident. The Thing is, I assume that in the End of the Game you would have to rewind until the Start of the game by looking at the Picture of the Blue butterfly to prevent Arcadia bay and everyone you know getting destroyed by the Tornado.
Not to ♥♥♥♥ up you're theory, but how could max look at the blue butterfly picture if the old Chloe
has the picture in her wallet ?
On a more serious note, I agree that the new timeline is illogical. As I stated in another thread and has been said here, it doesn't make sense that all of the decisions made before are moot or that we waste a lot of the valuable time left on what is a dead end. Being as Max returns to her "current" position in time after entering a memory, any change she makes is left to its own devices. For instance, if Max had rewound that far instead and began repeating her life from that point, it could be a better timeline. Her decisions are essentially randomized at that point, making a severe disconnect between her and everyone else.
While I will definitely enjoy whatever comes in Ep 4, it makes sense to me that Max will have to somehow find the original photo and undo her redo. Attempting to stop Chloe's accident violates the time wasted logic, and anything she does differently will potentially change everything. To be fair, even hiding the keys in another location will likely have delayed William enough to alter time, but that has been (understandably) overlooked. I'd like to think that the optional photo will change the way Chloe reacts to David, or perhaps even prevent Joyce from marrying him, but would that "fix" things, or just make another, less appealing timeline?
I'm not sure if the rest of your post is going to come to pass the exact same way, but this sounds like something that could actually happen. The butterfly picture being a Chekov's Gun for jumping back into the beginning to undo some fatal early mistake? I'd dig that.
i just hope chloe doesn't need to die to fix everything.
I think She indeed does. Just watch the movie Donnie Darko. Its the same thing there.
Though I also hope i didn't figured out the Plot yet. That would be disappointing as hell.
I know the feeling. I thought I'd figured out the plot once... then episode 3 happened.
