No aprrently part of the game makes doing a mac / linux port almost impossable according to there ama on reddit. I kind of find it strange and funny that they build the game on one of the most cross platform engines for game development and completly made it non useable for linux and mac os.... Hence why i won't buy the game no mac os /linux support no $$ sorry. Nice looking game none the less.

EDIT - This is just a link to the Reddit AMA , which steam doesn't seem to like for whatever reason so I just removed it. If you want to read it for yourself, google "dontnod reddit ama"

"Hi. I haven’t taken part in the AMA, but I’ve been an engine programmer on Life Is Strange. I’m afraid some of the third-party software the game relies on makes a Mac or Linux port virtually impossible."

don't blame them, blame the maker of whatever "3rd party software" developer he's referring to.

And don't be a linux snob either. You're not helping the *nix community by acting like that. Support the developer and maybe they'll be able to make that *nix port in the future.

The first episode was great. So mystic.
Loved the gameplay; It gave me what I always missed in the Telltale Games. The ability to rewind.

If you got another platform that support this game, I recommend you try it!

Thats the thing without knowing what 3rd party library system they used or licensed to use that makes it in compatable we don't know.. Im not being a linux snob but the unreal engine that is used is highly cross platform which makes it really hard to beleve that the game cant be made to work on mac or linux... The reason i state that is The unreal development kit makes cross compiling and working across windows mac linux ios android playstation xbox very straight forward sense it has the ability to cross compile for those platforms using its own toolchain. While assets like shader complilation would need to be compiled for platform dependance (pretty trival as the sdk compiles thoses per platform.) The underlying Depenancies that are required for Unreal IDE are multi platform and modualar... One could say they compiled it to just use microsofts visual redistributes which would make it platform depeant but considering they do have a playstaiton 3 and playstation 4 version which is sonys own verson of bsd and consdering the ps4 is based on off the shelf X86 (64 bit) aka AMD64 library system... im not sure what platform depeancy they are using that is just locking them into ms only..

So as i said before while i find the game looks good and very unique... If it ever came to mac os or linux i would support the developer but alas its windows only atm and i wont support developers that wont support mac or linux... If they do make it cross compatable they would get my money..) will keep an eye on the game tho...

I'm sorry, but you ARE being a linux snob here. It simply doesn't matter how portable the Unreal Engine itself is if some of the 3rd party middleware they depend are isn't.

It's a great game and it deserves your support. Don't continue to be a snob with this "won'tbuytillloonix" nonsense. I'm big user of Unix, but the simple fact of the matter is that Windows rules the consumer market. This is the primary reason many developers DON'T release Mac/Linux ports, the market for it is tiny to non-existent. Laying down passive/aggressive demands isn't going to prove to them that there is either.

Again, if you have a Windows PC, I say support the developer and buy the game. It's not like it's THAT expensive anyway. Or hell, buy the console version if you have one of those. I bought both the PC and PS4 versions because I liked it that much.

Not going to even debate this futher... It doesnt run on mac and linux... They stated theres part's that make a mac linux port almost impossable without knowing which middleware they used that doesnt have mac / linux compatablity we wont know.... I was just stateing that the Unreal IDE that was used to make the game is in fact cross platform between every platform is in deed not the issue...

Point still stands valid why would mac and linux users buy and support a game that the developers dont support... Sadly because there are gamers that would buy the game as it looks like a good game... Thats the point sorry You dont seem to grasp that..

Fyi windows only really dominates the desktop market Tablet / moble /server / Console market / Tv is primarly Mac os /linux which is a larger market then just desktop pc.

You're not saying anything new here.

Why would developers invest in MacOS/Linux when combined they only account for a scant 8-9% of the desktop market? Out of that, exactly how many are likely to buy their game?

it's simple economics dude. You don't seem to grasp ~THAT~ point.

Yeah well, when it comes to PC gaming, that's really the only market that REALLY matters to game developers. No one's playing games on Linux Supercomputers, are they?

Tv is primarly Mac os /linux which is a larger market then just desktop pc.

This is only true if you lump every single vendor's homespun OS together, of which the only thing any of them have in common is the base linux kernel, and the only thing running iOS is AppleTV.

But whatever dude. You're not going to strongarm anyone with your childish "no linux no buy" foot stomping. Either support the developer or don't. You're not going to strongarm them into supporting your platform of choice when a market barely exists there.

If you are willing to do a bit of finagling, this game will run inside a Wine wrapper on a Mac.

Maybe because some developers just want to please their users?

It seems to be available in the mac App store since June 15 2016, I guess the mac compatible version should end up in steam soon?

Yes. But app store doesn't show info on episodes; was it released as a complete story or mac users should start with episode 1 and wait for other episodes to release :steamsad:

It mentions in-game payments...
