So? If someone thinks asians suck, he should be allowed to say so.
Btw, i don´t feel like "i don´t like lgbt" and "i like child molestation" can be compared.
Some opinions should not be voiced. Some things we all keep to ourselves because it's very hurtful to others. It's hate speech. If you spout hate speech, you are going to get targetted by very offended and hostile responses; why should that be defended?
Everyone is free to voice their opinions, of course. But why a person like snsherryah feels that voicing such hateful opinions is a heroic feat that deserves to be defended, and should not warrant so many negative comments is incredibly ignorant and childish.
You don't see me complaining on other good games that "Oh, I really hate the straight romance". Every mainstream game has romance that is unrelatable to someone LGBTQ like me, but I don't go whining about it - I sit back and enjoy the game anyway because different people are different and it's not hard to accept or empathize.
It's not difficult to enjoy really great games despite romance that doesn't fit with you.
[edit] And please don't say "are you kidding, there are so many gay characters in every show, token gay, blah blah" because token gay characters aren't often realistic. Would it surprise you that gay people are *gasp* just like other people? This "token" gay thing only started happening in the last like 5-10 years. Good luck trying to go to the library and find a decent novel that has LGBTQ characters. I can happily enjoy stories with straight characters because I have to. It doesn't kill people to enjoy media that doesn't match their romantic preferences.
I regret thinking I was defending his right to give opinion on story choice.
I now understand his reason for posting was for other motivations, to get attention and with deep regret I also gave him attention and worse, sympathy, where he deserves neither.
I will not give him anymore attention, and hope this thread dies.
I don´t know which games you´ve played the last couple of years but: Mass Effeft 1, 2, 3. Dragon Age: Inquisition, The Last of Us, Fable, Assassins Creed, GTA IV, ...
About every major release where it was possible to have a relationship (and some even without that) also had the lgbtqipx (whatever it´s called, it changes every 2 minutes...) way of approach.
99.99% straight? I wish. Dunno where you live but in german television, last time i watched (lucky it´s been years i didn´t!) about 25-50% of shows had some fancy gay/lesbian in it.
Personally i don´t care if you´re gay or not, just keep your sex a private thing. I really dislike how the gays got all the focus right now and you "have" to put some gay in it to apply to the norm.
A study from April 2011 showed that only 3.5% of people in the US are gay. And ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ they sure get way more attention than 3.5%!
If you compare this to about 23% of American citizens being disabled and how much attention they get, well, you can clearly see what´s wrong!
That's the problem here. Homosexuality has been, for a very long time, an oppressed and illegalized sexuality. If we go far enough back in time, gays were even hunted down by the church and religious groups.
It's a sensitive subject because of the painful history. Not at all unlike many other groups of people that have been downtrodden for something that is just their nature.
I m not a homophobe, but he/she makes a VERY good point.
If you want equality, then those who don't want to see this type of stuff should have just as much right to say so as those promoting it.
Exactly. HAS BEEN! So we can move on now, can we?
Disabled however ARE made fun of and hurt in almost every possible way every day.
Has been? I don't know which country you live in, but trust me, this is still happening.
Talking about "civilized" countries, not some been Congo or whatever.
Sure, they still get their share of "unwanted attention" but overall they´re widely accepted. However, they have no real issues with life itself, like disabled people, having problems every 5 meters.
Gay problems mostly only occur when they feel the need to express how great it is to be gay and then everyone stands up and applauds them about how brave they are.
When do i get my applause for saying i´m straight?
You get my point?
It´s not. It´s just some people flipping out over a dare Chloe made about kissing her. Nothing pro or anti at all.
How do you feel about calling afro americans the N word? Their painful history is also mostly a thing of the past, but the thorn is still there, isn't it? It's still an unpleasant word that makes most people crinkle their toes a little bit. These things take time.
Most societies are in a transitional stage where general acceptance of each other is becoming more common. Which is a wonderful, wonderful thing! But there's still a ways to go, and many people are still working on getting into the mindset of sharing their lives with the ones that have been marked as outsiders and deviants, which this thread is an excellent example of.
