Is it really worth it?
Don't take this the wrong way but I'm asking seriously. This game seems to have a hype to it that seems to blind a bunch of reviewers to its faults then turn yet others away by zeroing in on those fault. Not to mention the bits controversy and other non-game related events that make people recoil in hesitation and make others cling even harder to it.

So, simply, with as minimal bias as possible would you recommend me the game? My experiences with Gone Home, and the Telltale Games, and Heavy (all of which I enjoy) which I hear a lot of similarities to, means I would probably like it but I hear a lot about overuse of clichés etc.

Many fans will shout at me cause of this post, but anyways:
This game is all about emotions, not about choices and consequences. Story is as simple as every call of duty story, characters are well-done for this genre of game. So if you want to spend 6-8 hours watching a great thriller/drama interactive movie(dialogs and exploring the world not choices cause choices don`t make any serious consequences) u definatly need to play this game, otherwise don`t.

If you like episodic games where your choices matter then yes get it . It does have some cheese but that makes it that much more fun in my opinion. This game is amazeballs and the feels are hella real

Oh yeah? Give an example, professor, one girl disappeared, also there was a butterfly effect. So hard, u need to be realy smart to get this.

And Black Ops 1 plot was good and had a "depth and back story and mystery"

I couldn't have put it better myself.

It's really cheap for a game you will be playing for a while. It's a good game.

I just love how this fanboy rehashed my words. I said "lis plot is AS EASY AS cod". I didn`t say "plots are the same". If this two DIFFERENT phares are the same for u, so then u`re much more stupid than me lol. Nice job proffesor.

There's an incredible amount of interaction between characters going on in every episode and there's tons of background to each character that tells a part of the story. I might have overreacted by implying you're an idiot lol but still, I don't see how you could find the "shoot these stereotypical bad guys" "stories" of CoD to be even close to being as deep as LiS. I apologize for getting snarky though :P

Anyway to answer OP, it's definitely worth it. The main criticisms I've seen are towards the dialogue. I don't agree with those criticisms but if you're easily bothered by a bit of cheesiness (as a guy above me said) then you might find it corny at times. For the most part though it's very authentic dialogue and as riot said, the characters are awesome. I really love the protagonist's best friend. They can come off as stereotypical at first but you quickly realize they're not what they seem at first impression.

It's a really captivating story game. Choices don't affect too much but they've done a good job of making me feel immersed and like I'm guiding things to a certain extent.

Dunno how riot arrived at the conclusion that LiS has a simple story. It's anything but simple. There are so many twists and turns that tug at your heart, immense character depth, mystery, adventure, etc. Only takes a moment to figure out if you browse just 2 pages of this forum. lol Oh well.

Edit: Whoa there, dude. No need to get so defensive. He apologized. Come on. Let's be civil here.

Edit 2: And OP, I do recommend this game. It's only 20 bucks. You'll find it has many similar elements as the games you have listed. :)

Damn, again I came to a clear offence. Bad day, sorry m8s. And still LiS story isn`t hard to understand, backstory and other stuff for making each character deeper isn`t "story" it`s background stuff to make game characters deeper. And even with this part game sometimes can **** up really. For example, Warren, definatly a huge character and still all we know about him is "friendzoned nerd(okay, stalker)" and "GO APES", that`s all. Even David got a proper explanation.

And again, "story twists", oh c`mon, where are they? Chloe`s problem in third ep? Nope, clear butterfly effect and cliché from time-traveling movies and stories. Max`s teacher being one of the main suspects? I supposed that stuff right after "I can capture ur depressive state blah blah"(episode 1 class scene). Just give me an example pls.

"as simple as cod story" doesn`t mean that LiS plot and CoD plot are the same, they are predictable. Yes, LiS is really emotional, that`s why I bought it, not because of story. For story I has "Steins;Gate".

Thanks for the super quick responses. I really dug into the reviews section after asking and its mostly very emotional people spouting its virtues and the remaining few unimpressed by cheesy dialogue and pacing. You guys seem to echo those sentiments. I think I'm gonna get it. After all I do enjoy an emotion inducing game. Hell, Journey made me tear up and that has no dialogue at all...

Anyway Riot I'm no fan of CoD but I do play games like Battlefield and the like and I recognize that while to the general observer they seem to not have story they do. And they are surprisingly deep of you decide to explore. Heck in Dark Souls the story is bare bones... until you dig. But to compare a story driven game like this or Telltale Games to is just incorrect. But then I haven't played it yet so what do I know.

And yes I understand being broke, hence my hesitation to buying a game that isn't finished yet, it could take a left turn but from what I hear it stands on good merits thus far. $20 worth of merits anywherd. But by all mean I will take free games lol.

Smart, actually no offence meant so sorry if anything was ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up.

P.S.
And about 3rd ep, predicted that Chloe would be dead due to Max`s time interraction. So I almost predicted that. Damn butterfly effect movie experience.

Right on man! Let us know what you think. And if you end uo disliking your experience - you can always get a refund if you play the game for less than...5 or 4 hours? :)
