[SPOILERS] Rachel?
I want to know why Rachel was buried in the junkyard at all! Was she already dead, or buried alive? I already know that Jefferson and Nathan were (probably) behind it all, but why did they decide to bury Rachel in the junkyard? Surely people would know that that was where she liked to hang out, and search it everywhere, so why put her body in such an obvious place?

Right now, we don't even know if it's Chloe or Nathan. How much time would it take for a body to smell if put under ground uncovered?

But the last question is indeed interesting.

I did think it slightly odd that Chloe wouldn't notice a shallow grave right in the middle of the junk yard that she and Rachel hung out in all the time. It's not like it appeared to be off in some remote corner of the junkyard either.

I thought it was odd that the body hadn't been disturbed by stray dogs or other scavengers despite being buried so shallow. You can't just put a corpse under a few inches of dirt and expect it to stay there. It could just be that the writers didn't consider that, though, or they didn't want to write in Chloe finding a shovel somewhere and having to dig up several feet of dirt.

Or that the body was just placed there that afternoon. :LIS_poker_face:

Regarding that smell....this clearly rules out Nathan....since...you know...we beat his phony ass just hours ago.... SO the body must be there for some more time.
I think if we would dig over the entire junkyard, we would find as many body as there are binders in the bunker....why she wasn't found earlier, though...I have no idea :)

What beats me is why make such a shallow grave, unless done so to lure the girls with that text, to then move the body later once he had Max in the dark room. Someone as smart as Jefferson wouldn't have a shallow grave that could be discovered at any time. I still wonder if it really is Rachel's body! we can only imagine that they uncovered it, but we did not see this, was Chloe's reaction due to the idea of it being a body in the place the picture showed or because she saw it was her friend????

I've read that the time it takes for a body to smell depends on environmental factors.

Where were they keeping the body in the meantime? Or alternatively, what could they bury instead that smells like a rotting corpse in order to trick them into thinking Rachel is dead, for whatever reason? Maybe it was a dead deer and we've been overthinking the spirit doe since the beginning, the deer was just pissed about what happened and wanted somebody to know XD

What i think is that she got an overdose and died of the drugs they gave her. It was a mistake that she died, and they had to get rid of the body

Who else was missing since that morning? Who are we chasing? Did we find him? No? Maybe yes?

I'm not an expert, but I don't think a day-old body would give off an unbearably powerful smell of decomposition, especially if it was buried.

Yeah.......IDK why they would bury Rachel at the junkyard. Especially since it's a popular spot with teens who wanna drink, smoke and throw bonfires. I guess they didn't care if she was found or not. They covered their tracks, so it wouldn't matter if someone discovered the corpse eventually.

Notice the white thing that came out of her mouth. A clear sign that she died because of the drugs
Voidheart Aug 2, 2015 @ 4:07pm
I think what happened is that something went wrong, the drugs wore off, and she woke up, which you can see in one of the photos in the binder. After that, they had to kill her since she knew what was going on.

The normal plan then would be for them to drug someone, take photos while they're drugged, then return them. That is what happened with Kate if you take out the video which surely wasn't in the plan. This allows them to keep getting more victims with a much lower chance of being caught, as the victims have no idea what happened.

Killing the victims as some have mentioned would not be smart as that would lead to someone looking into it, as happened with Rachel. We also know that wasn't happening by the lack of missing person reports on the police website.

Just throwing this out there- It was almost obvious that rachel was buried there. In episode 2 when you visit the junkyard, the spirit doe stands right over the grave for a long period of time then it walks away. It sorta forshadowed that that spot was signifigent to the plot. Honestly it was clear from the beginning that rachel was dead and the doe just confirmed it :3

I believe the doe could be symbolic to Rachel's spirit; maybe it was her spirit animal? I can't remember if talking to Samuel earlier on in the game has the butterfly in the corner, but he mentions about the doe being Max's spirit animal, only she sees hers. Perhaps max and Rachel were somehow spiritually connected, therefore the only reason she sees the doe is because it's Rachel's spirit?
