(SPOILERS...and a bit of imagination) Retracing Mark Jefferson's life...

18 binders. I counted 18 binders in the cupboard of the dark room. Victoria not having photos on the binders with her name, there is so far 17 victims, Rachel and Kate being the last ones.
Both of them were victims of Jefferson during his year as a teacher. That means that the remaining 15 ones must have been victims during his career as a photographer. And I will go even further and saying his started all this during his youth as a student. Of course, how can you be close to young student women if you are not a teacher? A student yourself!

To be able to attain this level of sophistication, it does not only count on money, but also on experience. Find an easy "prey", "taming" them, find a good location to be "alone" to do your things quietly, all that without them to remember anything or to be seen by anyone. All of this takes time! time he coud afford when he started at his young age. Learning from his mistakes with his first victims, perfectionnning himself over time. If everything goes according to his plan, there is no need to kill them, as they won't remember anything (Kate is the proof). Killing is not part of his plan, he just want to express his work.

But what about Nathan? Mark, who has experience and fame, still needed money to finalize his projects. And who could give it to him? The Prescott. Mark met Sean Prescott and befriended him. That's when he also met Nathan. Mark must have understood Nathan personality, his mental problem, his fetishism for tortured things and creepy photos. Mark saw in Nathan the one who could pursue his work, and lenghten his legacy.

But then, something happens. When he thought everything was perfect, something....or someone changed everything. And that person is Rachel. Rachel, out of nowhere, somehow manage to regain consciousness. Seeing how bad she is, how her body tied up she is and unable to move, and Mark standing in front of her ready to take photos of her, she gets furious. Mark manage to dose her again, but Rachel, still fighting, still maintain her furious face, and Mark took a photo.
Because Rachel saw everything, Mark could not let her go. That's why, for the first time, Mark has to kill one of his victims.
Mark, in order to preserve Nathan from this and protect his legacy, decided to dose Nathan also. Mark, willing to dispose of Rachel's body, went to the junkyard, along with Nathan unconsious to take more photos. To reassure Nathan, Mark told him he left Rachel's body in the middle of nowhere and that no one will be able to find her. Nathan tried to tell the truth but Mark blackmailed him to accused him too and bringing down the Prescott along with him, so Nathan decided to not tell anything.

But killing would mean a police investigation, searchs, interrogation...Etc. Mark decided to stay low for a time or he will get busted. Thus the six months between Rachel and Kate's kidnapping.

Kate is a young woman. She comes from a religious family. Mark notices how "innocence" she is from the other girls as she preaches about abstinence. Shy and innocent, Mark found the perfect opposite of Rachel Amber who arrived at Blackwell and it was the perfect occasion for him to start again. Plus, Kate seemed to idolize him, which was more easy for him to kidnap her.

The Everyday Hero's contest arriving soon, it was another chance for Mark to select another girl who would win the contest and go with him to San Fransico, where he can add another set of photos to his collection.

Then it is a plothole. I don't see how Jefferson could get away with using one of his drugged victim pictures to advance his career. Even if the victim never finds out or is somehow blackmailed (which I highly doubt he can keep on doing for all of them), fans of his work will also try to find out who the person on the picture is.

his first line about "capturing a person in a corner" and the presscots might have kept it.He probaly did it outside of arcadia a long time ago

Weird idea for Ep5:
David and Joyce receive the call that Chloe is dead and Max is missing. Joyce goes to crime scene, while David, decides to go to the barn. He sees Jefferson's car there and realizes Max is in trouble. He goes into 'The Dark Room' just as Jefferson is about to prey on Max. There's a brutal struggle as Jefferson is mortally wounded. Just before he dies, he kills David. Max frees herself and uses the picture of her and Warren to go back in time. Just as Chloe receives the text to go to the junkyard, Max warns her what'll happen. She suggests calling David because they can't trust the police. David meets them there. They split up. Jefferson is about to pounce when David takes him out

prefer it if max is the one to kill jefferson

i think jefferson will chase you through the storm and you have the choice of killing him

or you call the police after the storm is done

Or another idea is that Jefferson calls Nathan. Nathan sees Max and refuses to kill her. They fight, Jefferson kills Nathan. I love your idea about the chase.

But then when Max uses her powers to "resurect" Chloe he will know Max has power....and that will be the end because he is then "polarized"....

This has the ring of possibility to it. Nathan being Mr. Jefferson's Apprentice and all, he could call him in, to show him his latest 'acquisiton.'

I did bust down his door, though, and he was pretty p*ssed about it, so we're not exactly on speaking terms right now. But it would be awesome if Nathan finally took this as an 'Enough is enough!' moment.

Still seems like a hell of a risk to take. He's famous nationwide. The people at Blackwell might believe those pictures are innocent but what's to stop his victims from ever finding out the truth? All it takes is someone who knows one of the victims to see any of Mr. Jefferson's pictures (online, or in an art gallery) and then mention this casually to the victim ("Hey, I didn't know you posed for...").
If they explain Jefferon's drive / how he started like that, that it fueled his career, then I call BS. It's impossible that he's getting away with this, unless his victims somehow gave their consent.

How could Jefferson ever share his work? One of the girls on those pictures would recognize herself and immediately call the police (precisely because they don't remember anything!). This is the problem I have with the whole theory that Jefferson got famous because of his dark room activities. He could never have gotten away with sharing those pictures online/ in an art gallery because he didn't have the consent of those girls (unless he somehow blackmailed all of them, which sounds farfetched).

So Jefferson must've gotten famous all by himself and this is just a hobby. He keeps the pictures to himself. This, to me, makes it likely that he's working for some other goal/reason and could be working directly for the Prescotts (maybe there's a supernatural reason).

I never said he used his victims photos to get famous. He must have take photos of real model as a photographer and do his secret activity separately.

The only thing I disagree with is that I wouldn't assume he would necessarily need to do everything through school/students. I imagine getting a woman alone in New York wouldnt be impossible, especially when you're a good looking, money making, semi-famous sociopath.

Im not sure how aware of Rachel's death Nathan is, but without knowing more about his actual illness and medication its tough to imagine he doesnt have a pretty good idea (if hes not a full on accomplice).

Yeah starting when he was a student was just my crazy imagination! :D

It does. By knowing if he's a serial killer or not, we also learn of what are his motivations. I too believe there's a supernatural element going on (most likely, he's going after these girls to obtain their power).

Kate did not have powers to our knowledge.
